Zack's Place We are Zack's Place! An enrichment center for people with special needs in Woodstock, VT Everyone needs friends.

Our mission is to provide a relaxed setting where people with special needs are free to explore art, music, dance, and exercise while developing lifelong bonds. Our hands-on approach engages participants with the material, their instructors, and one another. Service-learning and volunteer projects connect them with the public at large and instill a sense of citizenship. Our members are a vital and

talented group with a tremendous amount to give. Through programs at Zack’s Place, they contribute to and benefit from the community.

On February mornings we did crafts with Kitty, we visited Hypertherm and toured their factory, we worked on our next series of greeting cards with Bryan, we cooked with Sarah, we planted an indoor garden with Martha, we visited Montshire Museum, we played games with Betsy and Cody at WES, we had story time with Jools, we went to visit VINS, we went bowling at Maple Lanes, we had science with Finnie, Jen and Anthea, we saw a movie at Pentangle, we visited the Library, and we went to the HOP to see Yamato.

Mid-day we skied every Tuesday at Su***de 6 with Vermont Adaptive, we drummed with Ted, we had Fitness with Bari, Pottery with Fiona, Zumba with Jen, games with Carl, we delivered Pentangle posters, and we had art with Lolly and Bonnie.

In the afternoon we practiced for the upcoming Special Olympics Unified Snowshoe Competition, we did yoga with Jamie, Tita and Lalita, we sang with Kerry, Shelly, Rob and Bonbon and Papa, we had art with Jools and Holly, and we finished writing our upcoming musical with Dail.
We read books with Diane Dugan, Bettyanne Mcguire, Ron Jaynes and Phil Swanson.

On January mornings we worked on our new edition of greeting cards, had photography class with Holly, crafts with Kitty, science with Finnie and Anthea, we started a book club at Norman Williams Library, we went to the HOP and watched The 12th Night by William Shakespeare, we had art class with Bonnie and Lolly, we cooked with Sarah and delivered Pentangle posters.

Mid-day we had pottery with Fiona, skied at Su***de 6 with Vermont Adaptive, went to the Billings Farm Film Festival, had fitness class with Bari, Zumba with Jennifer Schutizius, went to Billings Farm for the winter farm program, we played games with Carl Hurd, and had music movement class with Kathleen Dolan.

In the late afternoons we practiced our snow-shoeing with our partner athletes from WUHS, we did yoga with Lalita, Tita and Jamie, we sang with Kerry, had art class with Jools and Finnie, cooked with Sarah, and worked on writing our next musical with Dail and Kelley Willis. We read books with Ron, Bettyanne, Pam and Phil.

In December in the mornings we visited the Hood Museum, went to see Mary Poppins at Northern Stage, we saw The Last Waltz at Billings Farm, Skippy Jon Jones at the HOP, La Voz De Tres at Pentangle, and we saw Amahl and the Night Visitors at Opera North. We bowled at Maple Lanes, had photography with Holly, art with Jools, science with Finnie and Anthea, learned about Hannukah with Kitty, made holiday bird feeder ornaments with Holly, had art with Lolly, baked cookies with Doug and played games with Sarah.

Mid-day we had fitness classes with Bari, did random acts of kindness, had art therapy with Kathleen, cooked with Annie O'Neill, delivered Pentangle posters, made holiday kissing balls and had story time with Jools.

In the afternoon we had yoga with Tita, Lalita and Jamie, singing with Kerry, games with Betsy and Cody, cooking and culture with Alicia and Sarah, we did a project with the Dana House, we played games with Carl Hurd, we made cookies with Helen and Erin and we had a New Years Party.

In the mornings we bowled at Maple Lane Bowling alley, we did photography with Holly, we hiked the rail trail and finished our ongoing hike from Andover NH and celebrated with our friends at Spark! We had science class with Finnie and Anthea, we swam at UVAC, we went to the movies at Pentangle, we visited the Woodstock Fire Department and the Police Department, we did crafts with Kitty, and had games with Carl.

Mid-day we had Pottery with Fiona, we made cookies for the Turkey Trot, we had fitness with Bari, we did art with Bonnie and Lollie, we went for a carriage ride at Billings Farm, and we had band class with Mark and Kathleen.

In the afternoons we had belly dancing and performed at Lebanon Opera House with Gina, we had drumming with Ted, we went to Global Campus at Artistree, we sang with Kerry, we did art with Emily, Mary and Jools, we cooked with Sarah and studied international culture with Alicia, we worked on greeting cards with Grace. We read books with Phyliss, Bettyanne and Pam.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, trotters, Automatic Rooster, The Town Police, the Woodstock Elementary School, donors and volunteers for a better than ever Turkey Trot! This year over 900 runners and 600 walkers, and 60 volunteers came out on Thanksgiving day to enjoy this community event and support Zack's Place.

We at Zack's Place, including the staff, the Board and participants and families cannot thank you enough for your support. This event raised over $60,000 which 100 percent goes directly to support Zack's Place. Your generosity is amazing.

Calling all bakers! Zack's Place is requesting donations of healthy baked goods for the snack table at the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day.

If you are able to bake and donate a healthy baked good that is able to be packaged up individually, please contact Nicole at (802) 457-5868. You can drop off at ZP anytime between now and Wednesday night!

Please RSVP if you plan to bake so we know to expect you. Thanks so much for your commitment to Zack's Place!
