What if EMS went dark? While agencies, municipalities, and counties look for solutions to keep EMS moving forward, we all face a shortage of trained EMS practitioners. If you'd like to help your community, please consider joining our upcoming EMT class. The course is open to originals (never been certified) and refreshers (those who have been certified in the past) and, if you belong to an agency, the course fees are waived.

The flier is pinned to the top of our page with contact information to sign up, or you can message us directly on this page for more information. Classes begin soon.

We had a great drill this past week at Zena Recreation Park practicing airway management, resuscitation, and water rescue techniques with the pool lifeguards. A big thank you to Jim Crowley for arranging this great collaborative learning environment plus some much enjoyed family swimming and BBQ time for our volunteers!

Pictured here are lifeguards Mason Crowley and Keegan Varner-Renckens working with Paramedic Andrew Russell and in the background, EMT Nils Schlebusch training with other Zena Rec lifeguards.

Did you know that many of the volunteer EMTs and Drivers with Woodstock Rescue Squad Co. 5 are also active firefighters with other Woodstock Fire Department houses when they aren't on ambulance duty? Pictured here is Company 5's Acting Captain Gina Gifford at a drill this week honing her Halligan skills.

American Red Cross Blood Donors make such a huge impact and your generosity helped us to surpass our goal, collecting 31 units at this week's blood drive! A big shout out to Maureen Huben and Sam Truitt, our drive coordinators who keep this program going.

Mark your calendars, our next blood drive will be held on Wednesday, November 25th (the day before Thanksgiving). Please consider making it a family tradition to donate blood and share the holiday spirit with those in need.

BLOOD DRIVE: JULY 22, NOON UNTIL 5:00
It’s official: The American Red Cross has declared an emergency blood shortage after the national blood supply fell nearly 25% in June. Blood donations have dropped significantly in recent weeks, while hospital demand continues to exceed expectations. This shortage is especially concerning during the busy summer trauma season when patients rely on lifesaving blood products every day. Types O positive, B negative, and AB plasma donors are particularly needed at this time.

Donors can make an appointment through the Blood Donor App, by scanning the QR code on the attached flier, by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.

Please consider giving a donation at this critical time. As always, thank you for your support.
