We are very pround to award the Darlene and Ken Fiske Birds in my Classroom grant this year to Kate and Allsen of Dean Street Elementary School! This grant, and an additional grant through the Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee, a bird and pollinator garden has been installed on the school grounds with 560 native plants in the ground (and more to come)! Our friends at Small Waters Education and The Land Conservancy of McHenry County also helped make this project possible. Thank you to everyone involved. Looking forward to seeing this garden grow and create a space for the students to explore annd learn and that provides habitat for birds, pollinators and other local wildlife.

This great crew helped Dean Street Elementary School finish planting their bird and pollinator garden yesterday!
The garden was made possible through grants from The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee and McHenry County Audubon with the help of volunteers Judy and Jack Speer of Small Waters Education NFP and Kathryn of TLC, who answered the call to help finish planting 160 native plants (part of 560 plants total, 400 were planted by the students and volunteers earlier in the day)!
