Pentangle Arts

In 1974 a group of friends, local business owners and artists sat down in Polly Billings’ living room to discuss what this community could do to promote the arts in our area. From this gathering and backed by the recently founded Vermont Council on the Arts (VCA), Pentangle was established in March 1974. 40 years later Pentangle is excited to launch its Anniversary Season with a nod to the past an

d an eye to the future! For 40 years Pentangle has created arts and cultural experiences that foster creativity within our community through the presentation of live performances of music, theatre and dance; screenings of films; the visual arts; and other special arts programs.

Pride month starts in June and Pentangle+ is partnering with Pride of Woodstock to bring you a screening of the documentary “Claim The Lane: Becoming Roxy” on June 4th at the Town Hall Theater. Here's an overview of the movie:

"Roxy’s leadership and commitment to the gravel community have made her an icon in central Vermont. When she plans routes, pulls in new cyclists, and puts everything on the line for her training goals, a quiet joy eases over her face. But off the bike, Roxy is coping with the impacts of military service, and planning gender-confirming surgeries that she was convinced she could never pursue after being raised in a transphobic family.
On a crisp April morning in the Northeast Kingdom, Roxy clips in to tackle the 60-mile, 7,000-vertical-foot Rasputitsa Dirt. It’s the opening race in a summer leading up the Vermont Overland, a grueling event where hundreds of entrants quit or do not finish. As the demands of her cycling season build, Roxy makes the decision to live the second half of her life as a woman, confronting the fallout in her marriage and family, and embracing the possibilities of an unknown future."

After the showing there will be an open discussion with filmmaker Jesse Huffman and Roxy herself! This is an event you won't want to miss. Visit our website to get tickets ahead of time or buy them at the door.
