Big news for affordable housing in Woodstock!

Woodstock is headed to Washington, D.C. 🏡

The Town of Woodstock has been nominated by Congressman Pat Ryan for a $2.1 million federal HUD Capital Fund grant to develop affordable housing on town-owned land. The project envisions 16 units — 8 small cottage homes and 8 townhome-style units — designed as a model community that can be expanded over time.

When the grant opportunity emerged, the town had just 72 hours to pull together a full federal application — and the community responded. Letters of support poured in from residents. State Senator Michelle Hinchey and Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger also submitted letters of support. T

he Housing Committee, Ulster County planners, and a local developer helped assemble the necessary facts and figures.

The $2.1 million, if awarded, would cover all infrastructure and site clearing for the development. Congressman Ryan has nominated the project as one of 15 headed to HUD for review and will advocate on Woodstock's behalf throughout the selection process.

A decision is expected later this year.
