📌NO MEETING SUNDAY. Instead we will be in the Research Room for Local History & Genealogy in the district library at Woodsfield on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. to answer questions about your family research and to suggest resources you can use. We will introduce you to all the many resources available in the Research Room. We have built and maintained this collection since for over 30 years and we are proud to say it is the largest and most complete collection of Monroe County history and genealogy that can be found anywhere!

I had the opportunity to visit the Monroe County Veterans Office and was pleasantly surprised to see how it has changed from the once small office in the courthouse to its spacious current location on Home Avenue in Woodsfield. It is a welcoming place for veterans.

They used our chapters cemetery readings publications, WPA surveys and ither sources to confirm their burials. They have an exciting new project underway about which we will share details at a later time.

Our Monroe Chapter OGS has built the most extensive and comprehensive collection of Monroe County history and genealogy to be found. We also have targeted other key locations where our ancestors lived and have resources for those areas. We have a huge family history section for individual surnames that are located on the shelves and in the filing cabinets. Check it out.

We have also begun building a smaller collection at Dally Memorial Library in Sardis. Stop by and check it out.
