📢 NEW ORDINANCE ALERT – GOLF CARTS, UTVs, MINI-TRUCKS & OTHER QUALIFYING VEHICLES NOW PERMITTED ON VILLAGE STREETS

Village Council has approved a new ordinance allowing the operation of Golf Carts, Under-Speed Vehicles (USVs), Low-Speed Vehicles (LSVs), Utility Vehicles (UTVs), and Mini-Trucks on public roadways within the Village of Woodsfield, subject to inspection, registration, and compliance requirements.

🚦 KEY REQUIREMENTS

✅ Drivers and passengers must comply with all applicable Ohio traffic laws and Village of Woodsfield Codified Ordinances.

📏 ORDINANCE RULES

🚫 These vehicles may NOT be operated on any public roadway with a posted speed limit greater than 35 mph.

📝 HOW TO LEGALLY OPERATE YOUR VEHICLE

1️⃣ Schedule an Inspection
Contact the Woodsfield Police Department at 740-472-5771 or stop by in person to schedule an inspection.

2️⃣ Complete the Inspection
A member of the Woodsfield Police Department will inspect the vehicle. Proof of State Minimum Liability Insurance must be presented at the time of inspection.

3️⃣ Pay the Inspection Fee
After the inspection, a $50.00 inspection fee must be paid at the Woodsfield Police Department, 221 South Main Street, Woodsfield, Ohio.

Accepted payment methods:
• Cash

The $50.00 fee applies to all inspections, including re-inspections if a vehicle does not pass the initial inspection.

Welcome Back, Woodsfield/Monroe Central Alumni! 🎉

The Village of Woodsfield is excited to welcome alumni and guests this coming weekend! We’re looking forward to a safe and enjoyable time as we celebrate our community and its traditions.

As part of the festivities, we’d like to remind everyone about the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) guidelines:

‼️FRIDAY JUNE 19, 2026 ALUMNI PARADE DORA HOURS: 12:00 p.m.- 12:00 a.m.

-What is DORA?

The Woodsfield DORA is a special exception to Ohio’s open container law. It allows individuals 21 and older to responsibly enjoy alcoholic beverages purchased from licensed and participating establishments while within the clearly marked DORA boundaries and during designated hours.

-Know the Boundaries

Please review the attached map and documents for detailed information on DORA rules and permitted areas.

• RED lines indicate the allowed DORA zones.
• 🛑 Stop sign icons show where DORA privileges end.

⚠️ Important Reminder

Failure to follow DORA rules and regulations will void the open container exception and may result in enforcement action. Please drink responsibly and respect the guidelines in place to ensure everyone’s safety.

Let’s make this a great weekend filled with memories, laughter, and community spirit.

Stay safe and have fun!

It’s unfortunate that we even have to post this, but please do not climb into or remove items from the dumpsters.

The purpose of this service is to dispose of trash, not to retrieve items once they have been discarded. Dumpster diving creates a liability and is resulting in litter being scattered around the dumpsters and surrounding area.

The dumpsters are for VILLAGE RESIDENTS ONLY!

The first citation has now been issued to an individual who is not a village resident and was observed depositing trash into the dumpsters.

It is unfortunate that it has come to this, but the continued abuse of this service leaves us with no other choice. These dumpsters are provided as a convenience for village residents, and misuse by non-residents jeopardizes the availability of this service for everyone.

Please remember that only village residents are permitted to use the dumpsters. Violators will be subject to enforcement action.

New dumpsters will be brought in; however, if overfilling the dumpsters beyond their capacity continues, dumpster use will be discontinued.

Overfilled dumpsters create a safety issue and inconvenience the truck drivers, as dumpsters that exceed their weight or capacity limits cannot be safely transported. Please ensure all waste is placed within the dumpsters and does not exceed the designated fill level.
