Before Rocky made Sylvester Stallone a star, he was struggling financially and living with his beloved dog, Butkus. Stallone later recalled that things became so difficult that he sold Butkus outside a 7-Eleven because he could no longer afford to feed him.

According to Stalloneโ€™s 2017 account, he sold Butkus for just $40. After selling the Rocky screenplay and finally having some money, Stallone tracked down the man who had bought his dog and said he paid $15,000 to get Butkus back.

Butkus would go on to appear alongside Stallone in Rocky and Rocky II, making their scenes together even more meaningful. The bond audiences saw on screen wasnโ€™t just Rocky and his dog. It reflected the real relationship between Stallone and the dog who had been beside him before the fame and success arrived.

Rocky Marciano built his reputation on relentless pressure, devastating punching power, and a mentality that matched the way he fought.

โ€œWhy waltz with a guy for 10 rounds if you can knock him out in one?โ€

That philosophy made perfect sense for Marciano. He wasnโ€™t interested in making a fight look pretty. He came forward, absorbed punishment when necessary, and looked for opportunities to end the night with his power.

Marciano retired in 1956 as the undefeated heavyweight champion of the world with a professional record of 49-0 and 43 knockouts. His victories included legendary names such as Joe Louis, Jersey Joe Walcott, Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore. He remains one of boxingโ€™s most recognizable symbols of toughness, conditioning and determination.

Nearly seven decades after his final fight, Marcianoโ€™s undefeated career and uncompromising approach to boxing remain a major part of heavyweight history. ๐ŸฅŠ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น
