At the beginning of this season, we began to bring some changes to the Youth Program at Young Israel of Woodmere. We introduced new weeknight activities, revamped some others and held on to the favorites. Since then we've spent a lot of time and resources figuring out how to revamp our Shabbos Program. After some research, we have come up with a lot of new ideas to slowly evolve our Shabbos offerings.

This past week we rolled out our new incentive program for Jr. Congregation. The kids seemed pretty excited about it and we are as well. However, some parents (and children) have emailed us expressing confusion about the new prize program, so we just wanted to give you a quick rundown of how it works, and a glimpse into our thought process.

In the past, Jr. Congregation had a simple prize system. Tickets were given out for participating and contributing. Each week there was a raffle for 5-7 prizes and whoever won was able to claim their prize on a weeknight. However, there were some kids who came week after week and never one the raffle, even though they accumulated many tickets.

In an effort to both making things more exciting and ensure that everyone is a winner we introduced a new system. Each week there will be tickets given out to reward the children. Davening nicely, sharing Divrei Torah, answering Parsha Questions are all ways to earn tickets. At the end of Jr. Congregation there will be a raffle. Kids can win the chance to spin either our prize wheel or our grand prize wheel. (We got many new prizes for this, including drones, scooters, amazon gift cards, hoverballs and more). After the weekly winners are determined, the rest of the kids have a chance to have their good behavior rewarded as well. They can cash in their tickets for a coupon that says their ticket value. After several weeks of accumulating ticket coupons the kids can redeem those coupons to spin the prize wheel!

This new system is a way to ensure that every kid gets rewarded besides our weekly winners (and the Prize Wheel is very exciting to spin)
