BP Community Scholarship Program – Full Overview
The BP Community Scholarship Program is funded by local BP-branded station owners in partnership with BP plc. The program supports graduating high school seniors in specific New York and northern New Jersey communities who plan to attend college and demonstrate financial need.
Geographic Eligibility
Applicants must legally reside in one of the following areas:
• New York City
• Long Island
• Westchester County
• Northern New Jersey
Student Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
• Be a current high school senior
• Plan to enroll full-time (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) at an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university in the United States
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Demonstrate financial need
Application Requirements
Students must submit:
1. Completed online application form
2. Official high school transcript
3. FAFSA Submission Summary (showing Student Aid Index / SAI)
4. Personal statement (approximately 500–750 words)
Personal Statement Prompt
The essay should address:
• Important experiences during high school that have prepared you for college
• What you hope to achieve through your college education
• Why you should be selected as a scholarship recipient
Selection Criteria
Recipients are selected based on:
• Academic performance
• Financial need
• Quality of personal statement
• Extracurricular involvement

• Work experience
Scholarship Award Details
