We had such a great time celebrating our Yolo Youth Service Award (YoYoSa) recipients this week at Veterans Memorial Center in Davis! The YoYoSa scholarship is awarded to students who volunteer at least 60 hours during their Junior and Senior years of high school and must be nominated by the nonprofit they served to be considered. To date over 50 students have received the YoYoSa Scholarship.

This year YCF was able to award 3 very deserving students for their commitment to volunteering their time within the local nonprofit sector. Jazmin, Isabella, and Abigail volunteered with local nonprofits Davis Media Access, Yolo Food Bank, and the Woodland Memorial Hospital.

Join us in celebrating these amazing students who exemplify the best of Yolo County through their volunteerism!

Because of you, this year’s Big Day of Giving was an incredible success! This year we had a record breaking Big Day of Giving, with 62,000 donors and supporters like you helping bring in a total of $15,426,525, and Yolo County counting for $1,978,450 of those donations.

Your generosity, encouragement, and belief in our mission made a meaningful impact on our organization helping us bring in $24,274. Whether you donated, shared our campaign, volunteered your time, or cheered us on, you helped make this day truly special.

We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nonprofit organizations whose dedication, compassion, and tireless work strengthen our communities every single day. Big Day of Giving is a powerful reminder of the important role nonprofits play in creating connection, opportunity, and support for so many people.

From all of us at the Yolo Community Foundation, thank you for showing up so generously and wholeheartedly. We are deeply grateful to have you as part of our community.

At the Yolo Community Foundation, we believe philanthropy is more than generosity—it’s leadership.

Through initiatives like the State of the Sector Report and events like the Yolo Philanthropy Breakfast, YCF champions the vital role of nonprofits in Yolo County. We help donors, leaders, and community members understand not just what nonprofits do—but why their success matters to all of us.

By connecting generosity with strategy, YCF strengthens the entire philanthropic ecosystem in Yolo County. And with your support, we can continue leading efforts that build a stronger, more resilient community for everyone.

🗓️ Give to YCF now through May 7

At the Yolo Community Foundation, we believe that collaboration and capacity building for nonprofits are key to building a stronger Yolo County.

That’s why we create opportunities for nonprofits to connect, learn, and grow together—sharing knowledge, resources, and innovative ideas that strengthen their impact.

Through initiatives like Yolo NEON (Nonprofit Excellence in Operations Navigator) and NPLA (Nonprofit Leaders Alliance), we support organizations in building the skills, systems, and leadership needed to thrive. By fostering a culture of collaboration rather than competition, we help ensure that nonprofits across Yolo County are better equipped to serve their communities effectively and sustainably.

Because when nonprofits are stronger, our entire community benefits.

As we approach Big Day of Giving on May 7, we invite you to make a gift to YCF. Your donation helps us continue building the connections that lead to real change.

Give now through May 7 at https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/organization/yolocommunityfoundation

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Wide Wide World Fund Grant 🌎✨

The Yolo Voter Education Grant aims to increase local understanding of when, where, and how to vote. The focus of the outreach should be on registered voters from low-turnout precincts, and/or voters from demographic groups with a history of lower turnout, specifically Latinx, Asian Pacific Islander, and young voters ages 18-24. We invite proposals from a wide range of nonprofits that have the capacity to serve as trusted messengers to this target audience.

Applications are due by March 5. If you have any questions please reach out to [email protected]. Click the link below to apply today!
