Yolo Food Bank

Yolo Food Bank Yolo Food Bank works as a community to meet the food and nutrition needs of Yolo County. To this day, Yolo Food Bank remains the only food bank in Yolo County.

Yolo Food Bank was established in January 1970 as a backyard gleaning program organized and run by volunteers. Over the next decade, this effort grew to become a food closet, but it was still a volunteer-operated organization. In 1988, the first employees were hired and the organization grew to become a true food bank, joining what is now known as the Feeding America network in the 1990s. Now prop

elled by more than 50 staff members and nearly 3,000 volunteers in the past year, Yolo Food Bank serves food security needs for the entirety of Yolo County, from food recovery warehouse and operations facilities in Woodland. The organization maintains compliance with all federal, state and county codes and laws, and is the exclusive Yolo County member of Feeding America, the USDA Emergency Food Assistance Program, and the California Association of Food Banks. Together with our network of nearly 200 partners, Yolo Food Bank is on track to distribute at least 12 million pounds of food this year, via 130 distributions each month in every corner of Yolo County. This includes Yolo Food Bank's direct distribution programs (Eat Well Yolo, Eat Home Yolo, and Kids Farmers Market), as well as via more than 80 nonprofit partner organizations countywide. As Yolo Food Bank emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, it is the organization's objective to pursue the development of an equitable, sustainable local food system to benefit the health and wellness of ALL Yolo County residents.

We had a blast at our End of Summer Bash! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

It was a lively afternoon at Three Mile Brewing, where our Yolo Food Bank community came together to support their Davis neighbors. The talented local musicians: Lucy's Bones, National Ransom, Nineteenth Operator, and Home By 5:30 turned the patio into a party, it was the perfect way to end the Summer! Special thanks to our sponsors Three Mile Brewing and Davis Ace Hardware, your partnership was essential to making this party come to life. ๐ŸŽ‰

When changes to food assistance programs affect our community, we believe in coming together to understand whatโ€™s changing, share knowledge, and prepare to support our community.

As part of our Feeding Yolo Together series, we recently brought our Partner Agency network together for a two-part session on CalFresh changes resulting from HR-1, in partnership with the Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA). We would like to extend gratitude to HHSA Manager, Laura Pulley, and HHSA Branch Director, Soua Moua, for their support and great presentations at these gatherings.

With so much important information to cover, our partners explored CalFresh at a glance, implementation details and timing, key policy changes, the importance of volunteer opportunities, and more. The sessions also created space for partners to ask questions, share insights, and learn from one another through group discussion.

These changes will have real impacts on people who may find themselves needing food support, making connection and collaboration across our network more important than ever.

Together, we are staying informed, strengthening our partnerships, and building our collective ability to meet the food and nutrition needs of Yolo County. โค๏ธ

From today through October 9, YOUR donation to Yolo Food Bank will be matched thanks to Lawyers vs. Hunger!

Lawyers vs Hunger is an initiative where attorneys and law firms band together with local food agencies and the general public to fight hunger in our community. It was established in 2014 by Medina McKelvey LLP and provided over 12,000 meals to folks in need. Since then the challenge has grown to include multiple law firms and food agencies and provided 387,626 meals in 2025. For 2026, the goal for the campaign at large is to provide more than 450,000 meals.

Donโ€™t miss this opportunity to double your impact. Make a difference in your community by making a gift today ๐Ÿ‘‰ yolofb.org/lvh2026
