What does restorative justice actually look like in our community?

We partnered with the Office of Victims and Survivors Rights and Services (OVSRS) to put together this video on restorative justice and the services we offer here at Yolo Conflict Resolution Center.

Whether you're curious about our work or looking for support, we hope this gives you a clearer picture of what we do — and why we do it.

In addition to being a fantastic organizational consultant and internationally sought after speaker, Elissa generously dedicates her time to YCRC as a volunteer mediator and restorative justice facilitator. Together we’ll examine what gets in the way of dialogue, how to reduce defensiveness, and how to move from avoidance to connection. You’ll learn to uncover your assumptions, shift unhelpful narratives, and practice curiosity—so you can meet communication challenges and opportunities with openness, clarity, and connection.

Our office is closed Tuesday March 31st in honor of Farmworkers' Day. We are celebrating the contributions of those who keep us all fed, the collective efforts of labor movements to protect the rights of marginalized communities, and this year in particular the resounding response to meet the community need for justice when people in positions of prominece abuse their power. As we begin the new month, let’s choose compassion over comparison and kindness over judgment. 🤎

May we move through these next 30 days remembering that real strength isn’t about looking down on others, it’s about lifting each other up. Every small act of encouragement, every moment of grace, and every helping hand makes a difference.
Here’s to a month rooted in empathy, growth, and showing up for one another. 🌿✨

Are you feeling weighed down by resentment, and wondering how you could begin to learn to forgive? Elvia Garcia, one of our incredible mediators and facilitators, is presenting a mini workshop through The Resilience Learning Community this Thursday, February 5th from 12-1pm titled "Forgiveness and Resilience: Building Inner Strength for Healing and Wholeness".

This 1-hour workshop explores forgiveness as a practical skill for building resilience, reducing stress, and supporting emotional well-being. Participants will learn how unresolved hurt can affect stress and recovery, and how releasing emotional burdens—when and if it feels right—can support greater balance and inner strength. The session is trauma-informed, emphasizing choice, safety, and self-compassion. No personal sharing is required, and forgiveness is presented as a personal process, not an obligation.

(Note- YCRC is not hosting this workshop, so any donations or questions should be directed to Resilience Learning Community or Elvia directly at [email protected])

Today we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., whose work challenged us to confront injustice with love, truth, and collective responsibility. As we approach the National Day of Racial Healing tomorrow, we carry his vision forward by strengthening our connections and committing to healing within our communities.
