It’s Fair time! Please join us at the Yolo County Fair Junior Livestock Auction this Saturday, August 19th. In response to feedback we received from a buyer’s survey, we have made a few changes to this year’s auction in hopes of improving your auction experience.
NEW SCHEDULE
8:30AM -Buyer registration begins in front of the Livestock Office
8:30AM – Buyer Hospitality Area opens. Light refreshments will be served in the Beef Barn from 8:30am until the end of the auction. Yolo County Fair Heritage Foundation will be offering complimentary Bloody Mary’s for buyers (21+) from 9:00am-12:00pm at their booth located between the auction ring and the main arena.
10:00AM – AUCTION START TIME
12:00PM – Sale of Champions immediately followed by the Yolo County Fair Heritage Foundations’ Trades, Technology & Arts Auction (approximately 15 lots). At the conclusion of the Trades, Technology & Industrial Arts Auction, we will return to the regular Junior Livestock Sale and pick-up where we stopped at noon.
NEW: SALE OF CHAMPIONS AT NOON
Historically, the champion animals were sold at the beginning of the auction. In an effort to highlight the exhibitors whose market animals have placed highest in the Yolo County Fair Livestock Show, the champion animals will be sold at a specified time (12:00pm). The champions will still be listed as the beginning lots on the sales order. The auction will begin at 10:00am beginning with the first lot after the champions and continue until 12:00pm. At 12:00 noon, we will return to the champions beginning with Lot #1. The champions will be sold in species then by placing order (grand champion beef, reserve grand champion beef, etc.)
NEW: YOLO COUNTY FAIR HERITAGE FOUNDATIONS’ TRADES, TECHNOLOGY & ARTS AUCTION (previously known as the Ag Mechanic’s Auction)
The Yolo County Fair Heritage Foundations’ Trades, Technology & Arts Auction that was historically held at the conclusion of the livestock auction will now be held immediately following the Sale of Champions. The auction items will be on display at the Ag/ Floral Building beginning on Wednesday, August 15th and then in the livestock area the morning of the auction.
NEW: ADD-ONS
Add-on bids are a flat amount that you are donating to an auction-eligible exhibitor to support their market project. This is not an animal purchase. There is a minimum of $50.00 per add-on, per exhibitor. If you would like to contribute an add-on bid, please use the attached Add-On Form. The forms will also be available at the buyer registration table on the say of the sale. Add-on bids must be paid via check or money order made payable to AgWest Farm Credit. Payment can be made up to one-hour following the conclusion of the auction at the Livestock Office or delivered to AgWest Farm Credit (440 Pioneer Avenue, Woodland) no later than 5:00pm on Monday, August 21st.
REMINDERS
Animals will be sold as a flat rate by lot, NOT per pound.
The auction is a terminal sale. This means there is no live animal pick-up for any animals sold in the Junior Livestock Auction. Buyers will have the option to resale the animal if they do not want the meat or custom process the animal if you want to keep the meat.
All payments for animal purchases must be paid for with checks or cahier’s checks drawn on FDIC insured banks or NCUA insured credit unions. We are unable to accept cash or credit card payments.
Please limit (4) buyers per animal. If a larger group wishes to purchase an animal, please consider registering as a buyers group. If you have any questions, please contact the Livestock Office at registration.
Thank you for your continued support of Yolo County’s youth.
Sincerely,
Anna Fricke
