Happy Sunday friends!. Say, just a reminder, this is an all consuming job doing rescue. The phone calls all day long are discouraging to say the least. Those of you that hang out. Hear me answer the phone all day. Two out of every 3 calls, are people wanting to surrender their dogs. It’s devastating. There is just not enough room in rescues, and I just can’t take them all. Period . The core issue here, is that people need to have places to surrender their animals, and that place are the municipal and county animal shelters. Owner surrender, intakes, and strays, must be taking in by our tax, payer shelters, not the overwhelmed rescues. What do you think happens to these animals
When people have nowhere to take them. Euthanasia is not a word people like to discuss, but until the overwhelming spay/neuter crisis is resolved, we will never have the overflow of animals stopped. I personally, would much rather see an animal humanely euthanized by our taxpayer shelters, rather than suffer the inhumane things we see as rescues every day. People shoot their dogs, turn them loose on the streets, give them away on craigslist,or get duped into fake rescues, like Miranda‘s, that will take the dogs and kill them. Please, please check out a lady named Tracy Voss. She is very active in the fake.”no kill” movement in all of the shelters( not rescues)! There IS a difference. She is very articulate about explaining it, and how the whole shelter system needs to change. Until people have a place to take their animals when they want to surrender them, i.e., municipal and county shelters, the crisis will never end. We need to stop the flow, so rescues can again help more. I never used to have to turn down a Rottweiler if a shelter called us. Nowadays, I say no to a minimal of 20 dogs a day, Rottweilers. Makes me sick, but there’s just no room.Things are really changed. But this year we are working on the core problem. ROF is actively helping with spays and neuters in our county, to try to send a message., Since there is currently low-cost spay neuter unavailable for the most part. We have hosted several of the.SNIP mobile clinics, and will be hosting another one in the near future. Cheers to everyone thank you for following, and please spread the word.👍🇺🇸🐶
