Lost Souls Farm

Lost Souls Farm Every soul matters no matter how small. We are a small family owned farm and 501(c)3 animal rescue That prepared me for my career path.

Lost Souls Farm was officially started in late 2019 but began many many years ago. Growing up, my dad was a Fish and Game Warden so my childhood was filled with rehabbing all sorts of wildlife. I have worked in the veterinary field since 2005 treating all animals big and small, furry and scaley. Over the years, I have seen many people have to give away their animals for varying circumstances but m

ainly because they could not afford the on going medical expenses. These animals usually became wards of my clinic and some would end up going home with me. My family and I would nurse these guys back to health and show them how much they were loved. We would also reach out to local rescues that needed a little help as most people would not take on animals that needed constant medical care. These “lost souls” would finally find their forever home here at our farm. From bottle babies, to a seizing tortoise, to a duck with arthritis, to a cat with cerebellar hypoplasia, to a tortoise with metabolic bone disease, to a cat with a fractured leg and to an alpaca with a bent leg, we love them all. We are thankful to be able to care for them all and to share them with all of you.

👑 The Prince and the Pea 👑
Marvin prefers his royal chambers stacked just so — a bed on top of a bed on top of a bed. Because obviously one cushion simply won’t do for a nearly 16-year-old king. 💛
This year our sweet boy turns 16 years old (how did that happen?!). Completely deaf, but perfectly tuned to the rhythm of home, Marvin sticks close to his castle walls where he feels safe and content. He may not hear the world around him, but he knows his people, his routine, and exactly where the coziest throne is located.
Long live the Prince of the Porch — master of comfort, guardian of the house, and professional nap enthusiast. 🧡🐾

💔 URGENT UPDATE ON TOBY 💔
Last night we had to rush our sweet Toby back to UC Davis after his temperature suddenly spiked to 107.3°F. In my 20 years working in veterinary medicine, I have never seen a fever that high. He was extremely sick and weak, but after being started on IV fluids he began to show a small glimmer of improvement.

Sadly, this morning his fever returned. An ultrasound showed that the fluid in his abdomen had increased since last night, and after the vets took a sample, Toby was diagnosed with septic peritonitis.

For those unfamiliar, septic peritonitis is a life-threatening infection inside the abdominal cavity—it happens when bacteria enter the abdomen and cause severe inflammation. It’s an extremely serious condition that can develop rapidly and is very difficult to treat, especially in a young calf.

Toby is very critical, and we are truly taking things hour by hour. He is still fighting with everything he has, surrounded by an incredible team at UC Davis. If at any point the vets feel there’s no hope for recovery, we will make the heartbreaking decision to let him go peacefully. No animal deserves to suffer.

Please keep Toby in your thoughts and send all the love, light, and strength you can his way. Doris is going to be absolutely devastated if he doesn’t pull through, and honestly, I don’t know how we’ll move forward. 💔

💚 Please send all your love and good wishes to Toby today. Our brave calf is undergoing surgery to remove his infected umbilical stump under general anesthesia this morning. He’s been such a fighter since birth — and today’s procedure is a big step toward giving him the healthy, pain-free life he deserves.

Bull calves like Toby don’t often get a second chance. Because of their gender, they’re rarely kept or valued on most farms. But Toby got lucky — we found him, and now he has a real shot at a long, happy life filled with care and compassion.

We’re still fundraising to cover his surgery and recovery, which is estimated at around $2,000. Every dollar truly helps, and sharing this post is another powerful way to support Toby’s journey.

Thank you to everyone who’s already donated, shared, or sent love his way — we couldn’t do this without you.

🚨Urgent Fundraiser: Help Doris and Her Baby Boy Toby🚨

Meet Doris and her sweet calf, Toby. We first learned about Doris back in March while searching for a special friend for Henry. We trusted that the right cow would come along at the right time—and she did. Two weeks ago, Doris gave birth to a beautiful but very large bull calf, weighing nearly 135 pounds.

From the moment he arrived, Toby faced some serious challenges. He was born with neurological issues and contracted ligaments in his front legs. Just days later, he developed an umbilical infection that UC Davis has been closely monitoring. Unfortunately, the infection has since spread to his joints, and he’s also battling pneumonia. This little guy clearly needs every bit of love and care we can give him.

Toby is scheduled for surgery this Wednesday to remove the infected umbilical stump. We haven’t held any fundraisers this year and have been relying on last year’s donations and personal funds—but we’ve now reached a point where we need your help.

Every donation goes directly to Toby’s care and is tax-deductible. If you’d like a donation letter, I’ll be happy to email one to you. Please help Toby heal and grow into the strong, happy boy he deserves to be.

Some things never change around here. Like our fight to control the pet population at the property next to ours. Feral cats 8, 9 and 10 were captured last summer and are now happy heathy 1 years olds tormenting my poor sister’s house. I haven’t been able to trap cats this year yet but I am hoping as things slow down a bit and get back to normal, I’ll be able to start getting some of them spayed and neutered again.

Hello everyone! Man, I have missed sharing all the animal updates with you all. I know I have always been bad at social media but with a soon to be 2 year old human baby, life has become pretty unmanageable. But I wanted to let you know that we are still hard at work caring for all the furry babies here at the farm. Life here hasn’t stopped! We have some exciting updates and new faces to introduce so stay tuned! Until then, enjoy Stormie being a typical boy during his hoof trim.
