The Fight Against Melanoma Education and Research Foundation Inc. We decided the start The FAM after our mother was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma. We know there is a need for education on skin cancer.

The FAM is a not for profit corporation that is passionate about educating young people about the growing rate and severity of skin cancer, specifically melanoma. We know this because some of us used to be those people and thought it was no big deal. Our mom fought a long (22mo) HARD battle with this beast and lost her battle on November 24, 2012. She fought hard to stay with us but it wasn't what

was planned for her. She wished many times she could take back her tanning, or if she REALLY knew what could happen how things would be different. She was very proud of Kelly for starting this foundation to help spread the word so other families don't have to go through this same situation.

These girls are working their fighting melanoma skills at their new school with their new friends! To start melanoma awareness month they've decided to tell their friends about sun safety! Kenzie (8) took it upon herself & made her own flyers for her friends telling them her top 3 things for them to remember: 1. Sunscreen 2. Hats 3. NEVER use a tanning bed! (Just wanted to share my proud mom moment)
