Generous donations, time, and a lot of organizing were needed to produce over 100 baskets for our silent auction. Lucky bidders got to take home everything from Dodgers tickets to spa day supplies to food and beverages. All of the money we raised will go toward supporting our many causes.

What a special day it was!

What happens when you combine generous hearts, creative talent, and a lot of hard work? You get an unforgettable tea party!

Take a look at the beautiful tables that our members created. Imagination and whimsy were the overarching vibes, each one uniquely beautiful.

Members and their guests had a great time savoring traditional tea time treats, while enjoying each other's company and raising money for the important work that we do.

Great job, everyone! This was one for the ages!

The WHWC book club meets at 9:30 a.m. on the second Friday of each month at Crave Cafe in West Hills. This month our selection is "The Maid" by Nita Prose, a delightful mystery that is nearly impossible to put down once you get started.

We will discuss this book on Friday, August 14.

We hope to see you there!

Here are some pictures from our very informative tour of Hope the Mission on Thursday, June 25. We were fortunate to be hosted by the CEO, Ken Craft, who explained the origin of the organization and showed us photos of their many facilities. Individuals and families experiencing homelessness can find support with such things as food, housing, job training, addiction treatment, and medical care through this amazing resource.

At this meeting, we were able to present Mr. Craft with a check for $1200, which will provide several beds in their newest housing development. We enjoyed a delicious lunch of homemade pizza, salad, fresh lemonade, and arguably the best chocolate chip cookies on Earth.

The people who work for Hope the Mission love their jobs, and it was fun to get a behind-the-scenes look at their operation.

This is an invitation for anyone who loves reading, good coffee, and lively discussions.

The WHWC book club meets the second Friday of every month at 9:30 a.m. at Crave Cafe in West Hills. This photo is from our June meeting, where we discussed "Beautiful Ugly" by Alice Feeney. This might be the first time 100% of us gave the book a thumbs up!

Our next meeting will be on Friday, July 10, where we will review "Yesteryear" by Caro Claire Burke.

The book club is a great way to expand your horizons by reading books you might never have otherwise considered. We invite you to join us!
