Isn't It Great

Isn't It Great Finding the good in our communities, in service, and in all religions so that we can unite and love

For the last couple of years I've had the enjoyable opportunity to be on the committee for the Utah Valley National Day of Prayer.

I love this event and how it offers us an opportunity to unite people of all beliefs in one common aspect, prayer.

This year Provo Community Congregational UCC hosted us, and several different religious leaders, community leaders, and groups that were invited to participate.

This year was a wonderful year as we invited our friends from UVU's Native Excellence to present a Native American Jingle Dance, which did not disappoint-loud cheers all around!

As we worked the 250th Anniversary of the signing of The Declaration of Independence into this years event, it was wonderful to hear from former first lady Jeanette Herbert and Former Governor Gary Herbert, as they shared insight into how prayer has played an intricate part in America and its founding.

Jeff Lambson did a wonderful job as our MC, and was even able to work in a little surprise for Gov. Herbert.

Each year this event is amazing and Im grateful for all that take the time to organize, particpate, and attend.

Watch for it again next year around May 7th.

Until then, catch the overview of the event and the spirit that was present.

Friday was a whirlwind day of events, but the Freedom Festival Prayer Breakfast was the perfect way to kick it off.

I love this day because it kicks off the 4th of July celebrations, and because its the day all things red, white, and blue come out of the closets to get ready for summer festivities-including my Grandmother's scarf from 1976, the 200th celebration of America.

The event was beautiful and each participant came to share their talents, wisdom, heart, soul, and patriotism.

As we celebrate America's 250th this year, I hope you will all find ways to learn more about what this country was founded upon, and to get re-invigorated in Patriotism and love for what this country is meant to be.

God, Freedom, Family

Usually I share clips from the event, but there was so much said that needs to be heard, that I've included the full presentations for those who are intetested.

I think its worth the time.

Happy 250th America-God Bless America!

I love temples.

I love what temples of all faith traditions represent.

I love learning about them and their beliefs.

That space is usually reverent, sacred, and holy to those that enter.

All of them are to be respected.

All of our temples are the same, but even more special to me, because their mine.

Yesterday was a beautiful day and the perfect setting to visit 'Inside A Temple', on Temple Square, in Salt Lake City.

Im so grateful we were able to attend and view the new presentations about temples at the Visitors' Center.

Its a beautiful space that brings understanding to what temples are, and what they mean to members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

If you are interested in touring the Visitor's Center on Temple Square, visit templesquare.org on June 1st to reserve tickets-that go extremely fast, and come experience the first glimpse into the new Temple Square!

If you want to visit but dont have tickets, come!

There is a standby line for the 'Inside A Temple' portion, and everything else is open to the public.

Hope to see you there!

This gathering could easily be turned into the joke that we've all heard-A Rabbi, a Pastor, and a Latter-day Saint walk into a bar...but its not a joke, it's better, because it really happened as we did all walk into a-temple, together.

Yesterday was such a beautiful Sabbath day to unite with religious leaders of several denominations; as we came together to show love and support for Vaibhavi Christine Warden and Devotees, during their time of loss, grief, and change.

Im grateful for these leaders, for accepting my invitation, and for their willingness to join together as a community.

Thats true religion in action!

Loving one another, as He has loved us. JOHN 13:34

I think too often we put religious beliefs before the fact that we are all still just humans, God's beautiful creations.

We enjoyed a beautiful talk about Volunteering and Devoted Service, by Ballava Candra Dasa, which can be found here:
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17gbBqAanK/

It was wonderful to be with the Devotees for their Kirtan, to watch them in their devotion, and to learn more about their beliefs.

We all found many points where we are connected in our beliefs.

We were then able to break bread together, as we enjoyed beautiful dialogue about beliefs-A peaceful and joyful engagement of minds and hearts.

As the world trys to separate us, let us push back by uniting, loving our neighbors, and trying to understand one another.

True blessings are found there.

Thank you friends for being true examples.

Message of condolences sent to ISKON (Hare Krishna) News upon the passing of our friend and local religious leader, Caru Dasa. This message was added by them to his obituary.

At this time of loss within the Spanish Fork community, the Mount Nebo Area Communication Council of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints extends our heartfelt condolences to Caru Dasa's family, his beloved wife Vai, and to the devoted members of the Hare Krishna faith who are mourning his passing.

As we strive to live the teachings of Jesus Christ, as found in Matthew 22:39, to "love thy neighbor," Caru Dasa made that commandment easy to follow.

We are deeply grateful for the many years we spent together in service, learning, celebration, and working side by side. He consistently radiated light, peace, love, and a genuine desire for connection.

His smile was an open invitation-whether to discuss the music he was creating, the food he loved, or the beliefs and traditions of Hinduism. Through these conversations, he built bridges of understanding and friendship.

As we joined in celebrations such as the Holi festivals at the temple, it was clear how deeply he loved others and how devoted he was to serving his community and faith.

If you attended his Sunday Feast Talks, you left having learned something meaningful. If one paused to truly listen, it became evident how many shared values unite our beliefs. For over 40 years, he was a cherished presence in the South Utah County area, and he will be profoundly missed.

With love and respect,

Monica Bambrough
