Nature Vision

Nature Vision is an environmental education nonprofit organization. Nature Vision gives students the science and tools to take action and be good stewards.

As an environmental education nonprofit (501c3), Nature Vision brings place-based, experiential nature programming to over 70,000 Pre-K through 12th grade students each year in King and Snohomish Counties. By bringing our programs directly to schools and local greenspaces, we work to ensure that all students receive quality nature connections where they need them the most. What makes our programs

so impactful? They are:
•aligned with Washington State K-12 learning standards to support students on their STEM education journeys
•integrate the latest scientific information
•anchored in details about local ecosystem for maximal relevancy
•often include environmental stewardship and community science projects
•help students discover every-day actions they can take in their homes and communities to connect with and preserve nature

The students we serve come from diverse backgrounds: one in three are eligible for free or reduced price meals and one in five are English-language learners. Nature Vision’s programming results in significant student gains in scientific knowledge, including every-day actions students and their communities can take to help our local ecosystems. We are proud to be educating and inspiring a new generation of environmental stewards and community scientists.

Nature Vision’s Blue Teams is looking forward to another great year! Last year we made so many wonderful memories and educated the minds of so many bright students about nature. We had a total of 54 Blue Teams with 1246 students in varying grades. Within our Blue Teams we traveled to 10 different restoration and community science location spots where students experienced place-based learning in the community they live in. With the help of 40 teachers, students conducted 7476 hours of community science collecting data to help real scientists. Preparing now for the 2026-2027 school year! We can’t wait to see new Blue Team students go out and see what changes they can make within their local ecosystem!

We had an incredible summer at Farrel-McWhirter and Hamlin Parks! Our campers got to experience the outdoors while learning all about science, art, and storytelling. From building bug hotels, to investigating owl pellets, to removing invasive plants, campers discovered the forest in a whole new way. As we head into the start of the school year, we’re happy to look back all the fun we had and learning we did together!

Observing nature is the perfect opportunity to find connections and patterns between the plants, water, and animals. Our summer camp is the perfect place for campers to question the forest around them and discover how things are interconnected. During our Great Nature Detectives camp, campers enjoy peaceful moments in nature while jotting down what they saw and what they are curious about. Your child still has the chance to join our amazing camp in Shoreline at Hamlin Park, August 17-21. Come and discover incredible things in nature!

It’s almost time for the new school year at Nature Vision Preschool! We are excited for another year of learning, playing, and exploring what Farrel-McWhirter Park has in stored for us. While there might not be leaves on the ground yet, the preschoolers will bring color to our classrooms!
