Important Announcement: First and foremost, THANK YOU to every person who has donated their time and/or money to support Lyme Awareness MN over the last several years. After much thought, (and tears) we have made the bittersweet decision to dissolve Lyme Awareness MN. Our goal, since the beginning, was to raise awareness about Lyme disease in the state of Minnesota. We accomplished that with our many events, many news interviews, securing yearly Governor proclamations, turning the Twin Cities green each May, and by putting 2 tick-safety children’s books into every (over 1000) elementary school library in the state of MN. The remaining money in our account has been donated to the Minnesota Lyme Association. On a personal note, I want to thank Mark Mayfield and Terry Mayfield, Carrie Mailey Perry, Brandi Dean, Dana Parish, Linda and team at Bay Area Lyme Foundation, Holiday and Olivia at The LivLyme Foundation, Lauren at Lyme Warrior, Karen Gloyer, Tick Killz, Michelle Bonine and family, Andy Kaufman, and the wonderful Dr. Neil Spector. Without all of your friendship, support, guidance, and paving the way, we could not have accomplished what we did. Thank you to all MN Lyme Warriors who participated in our efforts. Thank you to all of our TC media friends who helped us keep tick safety and Lyme disease in the news. And last, but certainly not least- Thank You to my family and friends that stepped up, showed up, and pitched in again and again- particularly Jeff Zelinsky, Sarah Kragness, and Diana Smith for endless hours of LAMN support. None of what we did could have happened without all of you. I’ll cherish the friendships and memories I made the rest of my life. We wish the very best to all of you. 💚

Jumping into piles of leaves can be fun, but it’s also a place that ticks love to be. Make sure to check your kids for ticks as soon as they come inside from their Fall activities! Please Share so your friends get this important reminder too!!!

We are so thankful to the schools who have taken the time to call or send notes, like these two we got today from Foley and Cambridge schools. 💚 Kids across Minnesota are learning to stay safe from ticks and Lyme disease! 🎉

Another (sad but true) post from The Tick Chicks that should be shared. Not just the picture, but especially the words she wrote too.

💚This quote says it all. To those who have struggled with the tiniest of tasks. To those who have to put on armor before getting out of bed. To those whose eyes are weak in the face of the sunshine. To those who swallow the complaints, one day at a time. To those who take an extra long hot shower to bring relief to aching joints and muscles. To those who cannot imagine one more visit to the doctor but somehow show up anyway. To those who say, "I'm doing well" instead of unleashing the truth to those who ask. To those who wipe away tears just before stepping into the room.

To you, I have been there and occasionally visit still. I understand. I understand the desire to appear normal. It is a way to survive and it's perfectly ok. It's a way not to burden others and that's ok, too. There is a time and place. There is no perfect way to do this thing. Just remember, there is also no normal, either.💚

“I have Lyme disease,” Keough says. “I used this little break that I have to come and try and see if I can alleviate it a bit. It’s a holistic treatment center and offers all kinds of things that you can’t really do in America yet. She’s never addressed Lyme in detail before. Later, I will ask her Daisy Jones costar, Sam Claflin, if he saw Keough struggle with pain during production. “Once she told me, there were moments where I’d catch it,” he says. “I’d noticed that she’d disengage in fleeting moments between scenes. The fact that she has all that underlying her day-to-day routine and is battling that on top of everything else—it’s nothing short of miraculous.” Keough herself doesn’t discuss the debilitating symptoms she’s lived with.

‘Daisy Jones & the Six’ propelled her to stardom even as she navigated tragedies, new motherhood, and a legal struggle with Priscilla.
