Hello SCV Family,
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. The SCV chapter of my life is coming to a close. As some of you may have heard, I am moving to Marietta, Georgia, at the end of the month—meaning this will be my last tournament and season with SCV.
SCV has, and always will, hold a special place in my heart. I’ve been involved with SCV for over 30 years. I started playing in the tournaments back in the 1980s, and it was through a random pairing in one of these events that I met my husband Gary. Together, Gary and I took over SCV from Nick and Sue Webb in 1997, and since then it has been an unbelievable adventure—something I looked forward to every summer! The friendships and memories I’ve made will be cherished forever—from playing with my own kids, to watching them play together, to seeing old friends return with their kids, and meeting so many new friends along the way. I truly feel lucky to have been part of such a fantastic group for so long. It’s hard to leave something I’ve devoted half my life to, but I’m happy to be leaving it in good hands. SCV has become like a family to me—running these tournaments would've been impossible without the help of so many people. I would like to thank my son Jeremy for stepping in for Gary and running these tournaments alongside me for the last 10 years. Jon Hurlock who has gone above and beyond for SCV and done more for us than I could ever thank him for. Not to mention our amazing work crew over the years, the Teraszkiewicz family, the Jackson family, the Wilkins family, and so many more that have helped make these tournaments a huge success. And finally I would like to thank all of you for coming out and supporting us, without you, the players, none of this would have been possible, so thank you for making these last 30 years an incredible experience!
With that being said, my last SCV tournament will be August 16th/17th. I’ll be coming out of retirement to play with my dear friend Kelly! Please stop by at some point over the weekend so I can say goodbye in person. And if you’re ever in Georgia, please reach out—I’d love to see you!
All my love,
Sandy
