It’s been a while… but today is FEATURE FRIDAY for Officer David Rondon!

Officer Rondon joined the Woodburn Police Department as a lateral police officer in January and is the newest DUII Enforcement Officer! After completing his training, he recently received solo status!

Officer Rondon began his career in law enforcement with Sherwood Police Department in 2022. During Officer Rondon’s career, he has been part of the Crash Reconstruction Team for Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Public Order Team (Mobile Field Force), and developed a passion towards traffic safety and teaching.

Before becoming a police officer, Officer Rondon served in the Marine Corps as a parachute rigger, National Guard as Military Police, worked Safety and Security for TriMET and dispatched for a HVAC company.

We asked Officer Rondon what he likes the most about being a police officer and he told us it is the feeling of making a difference. He said “it doesn’t happen every day, but when it does, it stays with you for the rest of your life. I also enjoy the amazing people in law enforcement and the stories that come along with the job.”

Outside of work, Officer Rondon enjoys playing video games, riding motorcycles when Oregon weather permits and likes to cook and said his family has dubbed him the “chef” of the house.

Welcome to the team Officer Rondon! We are excited to have you helping keep the community safe. Say hello next time you see him!

This week, we celebrate the unseen heroes of public safety - our dispatchers.

They are the calm in chaos, the steady voice in someone’s worst moment, and the lifeline connecting our officers and community. Every call they answer matters. Every decision they make has impact.

From long shifts to high-stress moments, they show up with professionalism, compassion, and resilience - day in and day out.

From all of us at the Woodburn Police Foundation, thank you for everything you do. We are grateful for you this week and every week.

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators week! 💙📞💛

Congratulations on your retirement Lt. Kimberlin!

After more than 21 years of dedicated service, Lt. Keith Kimberlin is retiring from the Woodburn Police Department.

Lt. Kimberlin joined the WPD in November 2004, bringing prior experience from a correctional facility in Utah. Over the course of his career, he served in a wide range of roles, including the Marion County M**h Strike Force, South Metro Gang Task Force, Detectives Division, and as both Patrol and Detective Sergeant. Promoted to Lieutenant in 2022, he went on to lead the Community Response Division and, later, the Operations Division.

Lt. Kimberlin’s impact on public safety in Woodburn is lasting. He served a decade on the Woodburn PD's Tactical Service Unit and contributed to major investigations across the region. His leadership, experience, and commitment to protecting our community have left a strong foundation for those who continue the work.

Throughout his career, Lt. Kimberlin also remained active in the broader law enforcement community, serving as a board member of the Oregon Peace Officers Association and bringing valuable expertise in public safety leadership and training.

Please join us in thanking Lt. Kimberlin for his service, dedication, and lasting contributions to the Woodburn community. We wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.
