After consulting with Counties Fire Chiefs a burn ban has been requested to Iowa State Fire Marshal for a burn ban for Clarke County. We are both wet and dry at the same time. The ground is extremely wet and yet the standing vegetation fuels is very dry. This makes it very difficult for fire departments to fight fires. over the last 2 days department have lost equipment trying to fight fires that started as controlled burns. Please do not burn.

Yesterday 11 members of the Woodburn Fire & Rescue Department assisted in Greenfield after a devastating tornado went through their town.

While there, members assisted with search and rescue efforts, and helped setting up a shelter at the high school. We are always ready and willing to assist our communities when in need.
