Capaces Leadership Institute Welcome to our page, y "Bienvenidos a su casa" together, let's make great things happen! Our Mission. Our Theory of Change
1. The individual participating

Founded in 2011 by the Alianza Poder network of community-based sister organizations, the CAPACES Leadership Institute (CLI) is a culturally-specific 501(c)(3) non-profit based in the mid-Willamette Valley, Oregon's agricultural heartland and the center of a large migrant farmworker community

While our comunidades are in a constant state of survival and trying to get by, this is not our destinati

on and why the idea of Capaces came to fruition. Capaces was created to serve as a nucleus to defend, sustain, and expand Oregon’s immigrant and farmworker movement. Capaces has become a space for our comunidades to dive into their deep and rich well of history and identities—La Casa de La Abuela, an entry point to strengthen our individual and collective capacity to engage in the wider socio-political world, and a rest area for pause, rejuvenecimiento, refleccion, convivio, creatividad, y innovacion. To strengthen the wellness, capacity, and political consciousness of leaders, organizations, networks, and communities to eliminate social disparities. Our Values: Wholistic wellness—for all of life, fluidity—move like water, Tequio—communal labor for the common good, and el Espiritu de La Abuela—the spirit of the grandmother is always with us. Our Vision: Equilibrium, harmony, prosperity, and abundance for our communities and our planet while honoring our history, our present, and future generations. The CLI’s programs are designed to create impact on five levels:
2. The organization/group these leaders work in
4. The movement/network they are a part of
5. The institutions and systems that impact our community
Ultimately the community these leaders/organizations/movements work in. Our programs provide leadership development pathways through a variety of experiences, each adding

🎉 Come Celebrate Capaces' 15 Year Journey In Our Movimiento 🎊

This event is more than a fundraiser — it’s a celebration of our Capaces’ 15 year journey in our movimiento, a space where we uplift the voices and stories of our comunidad. Come and celebrate with comunidad and support Capaces’ mission to strengthen the wellness, capacity, and political consciousness of leaders, organizations, networks, and communities to eliminate social disparities.

Last year, we witnessed the power of coming together. At our SOLD-OUT event, community members from around Oregon came together to share stories, eat great food, and enjoy live music. Together we raised $50,000! As we heard from powerful leaders, we were reminded of the ‘resiliencia’ that fuels our work, and we wanted to celebrate our 15 year anniversary by honoring our roots — and we’d love to have you join us!

Our goal this year is to raise over $50,000 to continue building power and opportunity in our communities. We’ll get there together through sponsorships, community donations, raffles, and an art auction — each contribution is a step toward strengthening the youth, families, and leaders that transform our communities.

We’d be honored for you to stand, build, and celebrate with us on September 19th at the Chemeketa Eola Event Center to Honor Our Roots and Celebrate CAPACES’ 15! 🥂

➡ A Message from our Executive Director, Jaime Arredondo:

Dear Community,

In a couple of days, our Oregon farmworker movement will turn 49 years old. I have been part of this movement almost my entire life. The current situation compels me to share these words.

I strongly condemn the extremely harmful actions of Cesar E. Chavez, recently reported in the media. They go completely against the values of our movement: Equity, Dignity, Respect for all, and spirit of Si Se Puede. This type of actions and behaviors are unacceptable in any way.

I honor the courage of all the women who are sharing their stories and I stand in complete solidarity with them. Thank you.

I also want to take a moment to call in my comrades, the men of the movement and of our communities. We must raise our hands and unite to interrupt and stop this cycle of harm to women. Enough is enough. We can all do something. We can all be better partners, husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, grandsons. One act at a time, one day at a time. Yes, we can. Who's in?

Finally, and for now, as many have already said, the movement is much more than one person. Thousands have dedicated their lives to our cause. Thank you. In you, especially the women in our movement, I find the strength to continue and improve.

At your service--today, tomorrow, and always,

Jaime

➡ Un Mensaje De Nuestro Director Ejecutivo, Jaime Arredondo

Querida Comunidad,

Jaime
