For 80 years, New England boaters have leaned on Coast Guard District 1 for trouble on the water, while Floridians relied on District 7, and Great Lakes boaters on District 9. This year, the Department of Homeland Security replaced the numbered system established during World War II with names for the regions they serve.
The change is meant to help the public more easily “find and understand the districts in which they live, recreate, and operate,” according to the Coast Guard. The name changes have no effect on the geographic areas they cover.

Who Gives Way A or B?
To determine the simple way is look at the Bow Light if you are looking at a red light you need to stop! Or alter coarse....If you see Green you have the right of way....but still be cautious because the other person may not know the rules
