What an incredible day at Touch-a-Truck!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s event. Families came out to explore fire trucks, construction vehicles, emergency response vehicles, and more, creating a day filled with excitement, learning, and unforgettable memories.

A special thank you to our vehicle operators, community partners, volunteers, and staff who helped make the event possible. Your generosity and enthusiasm gave children the opportunity to climb aboard, ask questions, sound horns, and experience these amazing vehicles up close.

We loved seeing so many smiling faces and are grateful to our community for making Touch-a-Truck such a tremendous success. We’re already looking forward to next year! 🚒🚚🚑🚜❤️

For Arthur Horwitz, this isn't just another stop on a book tour—it's a homecoming.

Raised in New Haven, Arthur returns to the community that shaped him to share his new memoir, "Dual Identities: Living in Meier's Shadow." Through the lens of his own childhood in 1950s New Haven, Arthur explores what it was like growing up as the son of a Holocaust survivor, carrying the weight of family history, memory, and identity across generations.

In this video invitation, Arthur shares why his upcoming visit feels "a bit like a reunion" and why he's excited to reconnect with old friends and familiar faces while discussing a story that began right here in Greater New Haven.

The evening will also feature a special tribute to Arthur's mother, Sally Horwitz, whose testimony became the first interview recorded for Yale's Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies.

Touch-a-Truck is this Sunday! Get ready for a day of family fun as kids climb aboard, explore, and get up close to some of their favorite vehicles. From fire trucks and emergency vehicles to construction equipment and more, there will be plenty to see, touch, and discover.
