For the past fourteen years, the Lake Ridge Chorale has loved providing choral music for our friends in the Prince William County community. Since our group was founded in 2010 by a small group of singers led by our Creative Director, Terry Stackley, we have continued to seek ways to forward our mission: to provide music for our friends and neighbors, and to provide financial support for the nonprofit groups doing such good things for the community we love.

Now, our time singing together for you has come to an end. Our dear Terry has decided to retire, and after lots of soul-searching and discussion amongst ourselves, we have decided to disband the Lake Ridge Chorale.

As we prepare to disband, we have kept our mission in mind: we will disburse all our remaining assets to support a) a scholarship administered through Prince William County S.P.A.R.K., which will benefit talented student musicians in the Prince William County Schools system; and b) several local nonprofits nominated by LRC members who hold them dear. So even as we say goodbye, we will continue to help provide beautiful music and continue to support neighbors helping neighbors in our community.

You can help us continue the legacy of the Lake Ridge Chorale, by making a tax-deductible contribution to the scholarship fund we have established. Together we can continue to enrich the lives of student musicians for many years to come.

Thank you, friends, for your support and patronage for the past fourteen years. We are grateful for the relationships we have forged, the friendships we have gained, and the community we have helped build. And even though we will not be able to sing together for you again, we do have one more request of you: please, please continue to support the arts in Prince William County! So many wonderful groups are making such beautiful music; how lucky are we?!

In case you missed it, here is a recording of our final concert!

As many of you know, the Lake Ridge Chorale charges no admission fee at our concerts — but we do accept donations, which we in turn distribute to selected nonprofits here in the Prince William County community. This year the organizations we chose to support are:

H.U.G.S.; Animal Allies; and Prince William County S.P.A.R.K. — the nonprofit foundation that supports Prince William County public schools.

And ~ it’s not too late to donate! If you would like to make a contribution that will support these three fabulous nonprofits, you can donate via PayPal at our website: lakeridgechorale.org

We are beyond thrilled to share that THE RESTON CHORALE was voted “Best Municipal Chorus” by DC-region choral directors in the 2024 Greater Washington D.C. Area Choral Excellence (Ovation) Awards.

The award was presented to Artistic Director David B. Lang on Saturday, April 20 during the Choralis Foundation's Ovation Awards Gala. The Reston Chorale was selected based on the quality and creativity of our programming, as well as our long history and service to the community, which includes collecting food, toiletries and coats for local families and our annual "Operation Care Package" drive to thank and support troops serving overseas.

The Reston Chorale also congratulates CANTATE CHAMBER SINGERS of Chevy Chase, MD, (Victoria Gau, artistic director) for being named “Best Chamber Chorus;” the ARLINGTON CHORALE (Dr. Ingrid Lestrud, artistic director), which received the Ovation Award for “Exemplary Community Engagement,” and NEETA HELMS, founder and president of DC-based Classical Movements. Ms. Helms received the 2024 J. Reilly Lewis Award for Outstanding Contributions to Choral Music for her efforts to promote collaborations and global exposure of choral and other musical organizations in the D.C. area, nationally and beyond.

The Ovation Awards, inaugurated by Choralis in 2010, celebrate the achievements of the DC region's vibrant choral community, which includes well over 60 volunteer and semi-professional community-based choral ensembles.

Being nominated for an Ovation Award is a high honor. In addition to the award winners, nominees this year included these outstanding ensembles:
• ALEXANDRIA SINGERS (Bill Colosimo, music director) and VIENNA CHORAL SOCIETY (Mike Horanski, artistic director) in the “Best Municipal Chorus” category;
• POLYHYMNIA A CA****LA CHAMBER CHORUS of Bethesda, MD, (Steve Beck, music director) and VOCE CHAMBER SINGERS of Vienna, VA (David Mann, artistic director) in the “Best Chamber Chorus” category, and
• ALEXANDRIA HARMONIZERS (Joe Cerutti, Jr., artistic director) and THOMAS CIRCLE SINGERS of Washington, DC (Miles Canaday, artistic director) for “Exemplary Community Engagement.”

A round of applause for all, and thank you, Choralis, for this honor!
