Old Dominion VA Chapter, The Links, Incorporated

Old Dominion VA Chapter, The Links, Incorporated Old Dominion (VA) Chapter has upheld the tradition of friendship and service in Prince William County, Virginia for over nineteen years.

On Sunday, October 22, 1989, a diverse group of talented women were invited to attend a brunch at the Mark Radisson Hotel in Alexandria, Virginia, for the purpose of organizing a Link Interest Group. The vision to form this chapter began with organizers Willa Rawls Dumas and DyAnne Horner Little. The group was named National Organization of Role Models and Mentors, Northern Virginia Metro Chapter

(NORMM). During the formative stages, the membership looked to the future and pursued its goals in the spirit of dedication, hard work and a quest for excellence. As this harmonious and energetic group of 32 women moved forward in establishing objectives and strategies for NORMM, the focus was the future of today’s youth and their families. With the election of officers, the platform to make positive, impactive change was established and centered on Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services and International Trends and Services. The ultimate goal was to build self esteem, which was key in improving students’ behavior and academic achievement. In June 1992, NORMM was advised that it had been designated an Official Interest Group of the Links, Incorporated. It was through the NORMM spirit of leadership that the Prince William County community continued to receive a heritage of service and distinguished contributions. Upon completion of the Interest Group requirements, a chartering date was determined. The organization reevaluated its name and considered a more historical one. As members reflected, they were reminded that the state of Virginia is known as the "Old Dominion", a name given to it by King Charles II, because it remained loyal to the king during the English Civil War of the mid-1600’s. As NORMM looked with great anticipation to becoming the 250th chapter of The Links, Incorporated, it became quite evident that Old Dominion was the appropriate name, symbolizing the same loyalty and unity, as the organization entered into Linkdom. The Links, Incorporated chartered Old Dominion as its 250th Chapter on September 18, 1993 at the Dulles Hyatt Hotel in Herndon, Virginia.

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Old Dominion (VA) International Trends and Services (ITS) Facet partnered with the Children’s Science Center Lab at Fair Oaks Mall and the leadership team of Minnieville Elementary School to provide an exciting STEM field trip experience for students participating in the Future Eagle Engineers NSBE Jr. Saturday Academy.
The Children’s Science Center Lab is an interactive STEM museum that inspires a love of learning through hands-on exploration and discovery. Through its outreach efforts, the Center provides valuable educational opportunities to Title I schools and families
facing economic barriers.
Throughout the day, students explored scientific concepts
through engaging, hands-on activities. From observing turtles and learning about pH levels and environmental science to interacting with snakes and hedgehogs. Students demonstrated remarkable curiosity, asked thoughtful questions, and worked together like young researchers.

Experiences such as these help cultivate STEM awareness, encourage critical thinking, and inspire students, particularly students of color, to envision themselves pursuing future opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By providing meaningful exposure to STEM learning, we are helping to prepare the next generation of innovators, problem solvers, and leaders.

This STEM adventure a resounding experience by all who were able to participate!

Please join Old Dominion (VA) Chapter in congratulating member Jane Reynolds on her investiture on 1 May 2026 as a Judge in Virginia’s 15th Judicial Circuit, an incredible, historical, and well-deserved achievement!

It was truly special to see several of our ODC Sisters in attendance, showing up in love and support to witness such a meaningful milestone. Moments like these remind us of the strength of our sisterhood and the joy of celebrating one another.

This occasion carries profound historical significance. Jane was elected to the judgeship by a unanimous 97–0 vote, a powerful affirmation of her qualifications and the confidence placed in her leadership. She also became the first Black female judge in the 15th Judicial Circuit, making history and paving the way for those who will follow.

Congratulations, Jane! We are so proud of you and celebrate this moment with you 💚🤍
