The Barn Ministry

The Barn Ministry The Barn Ministry exists to encourage, counsel, and equip pastors and missionaries in Christian ministry by providing resources and retreat accommodations.

What God calls us to do will often look impossible to others before it becomes undeniable.

Eight years ago, God woke me in the middle of the night and impressed on my heart to give four of our ten acres to the Barn ministry. I shared the vision with leaders and others, and while some smiled politely, I could sense their doubt. Even Dee Ann and I stood at the back fence many times wondering how God would ever bring it all together.

But deep down, I knew something: this ministry was not my idea — it was His. And if God is in it, He will make a way.

Through every question, delay, and skeptic, God faithfully sent people who believed, encouraged, gave, and cared. Looking back now, I am humbled and grateful that we chose obedience over fear.

If God asks you to do something that seems crazy, trust Him enough to say yes. God sees what we cannot, and His plans are always greater than our understanding.

God continues to move in powerful ways through this ministry. What began in 2018 has grown beyond anything we could have imagined. Since April 1, 2023, we’ve had 425 individuals stay at the Barn, and more than 2,000 people have come through our doors—whether for conferences, gatherings, or as other churches have partnered with us and used this space for ministry.

Out of the Barn Ministry, Shepherd’s Hope was born. Today, around 15 pastors are faithfully encouraging and equipping over 230 shepherds every single week. What started as a local effort has now reached across the globe—we’ve ministered in 22 countries, pouring into thousands of pastors and their families.

We’re also committed to ongoing support, providing monthly financial assistance to 10 pastors and missionaries, helping them continue their work on the front lines of ministry.

Closer to home, we’ve launched a service at Denney-Hunt Chapel, where attendance is steadily growing and now averages nearly 30 each week.

We are doing our best to make every effort count for something eternal.

Over 420 Pastors and families have stayed at the Barn over the last 3 years. If you know of a Ministry Worker that needs to get away and find rest and encouragement, send them to the Barn.

My heart was shattered when a pastor recently shared his retirement story with me. In our denomination, the pension is painfully small, and for many pastors, retirement does not mean rest—it means survival.

This pastor is in his 70s. He has lost one leg and a toe on his remaining foot. His wife is on disability. After two years of healing, he told me he is finally well enough to work at Home Depot—because he has no other choice. Hearing that broke me. A shepherd who spent his life caring for others now must struggle just to make it.

That moment is why we started the Retired Ministers Fund. Each month, we help retired pastors, and I am continually amazed at how even a small gift brings immense relief—covering groceries, prescriptions, or utilities. What feels small to us feels like hope to them.

Through the Barn Ministry, nearly 400 weary pastors and ministry leaders have stayed with us. I have prayed with shepherds who are exhausted, wounded, and carrying burdens few ever see. And through Shepherd’s Hope, we have traveled to 20 countries, encouraging pastors and their families—reminding them they are seen, loved, and not forgotten.

We have accomplished all of this without ever asking a pastor to give anything. Instead, we rely solely on the generosity of people who believe in caring for those who have spent their lives caring for others.

Scripture tells us:

“Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.” — 1 Timothy 5:17

If you are prayerfully considering where to give at the end of the year, I ask you to pray about partnering with The Barn / Shepherd’s Hope Ministries. Together, we can honor God by honoring His shepherds.

I am deeply grateful for the faithful generosity of so many. Since 2018, our ministry has operated as a non-profit, and through the kindness of donors, we have been able to support and encourage thousands of pastors. Whether through our outreach in Shepherd’s Hope or by providing a peaceful place for pastors to rest and renew at The Barn, we have done this work without ever asking anything from the shepherds we serve.
If you are prayerfully considering where to give this Christmas season, I invite you to consider partnering with us. Your gift helps strengthen, refresh, and care for the pastors who spend their lives caring for others.
As a registered non-profit organization, all contributions are tax-deductible.
Thank you for helping us continue this vital ministry to our Shepherds.

As we approach the holiday season, Dee Ann and I are deeply aware of how much we have to be thankful for. God has blessed us with a wonderful family, good health, and meaningful opportunities to serve others through ministry. And among those blessings—we count you. Thank you for being our friends and for walking this journey with us.

We also want to express our sincere love and appreciation to the incredible people we’ve had the privilege of Pastoring at Grassland Naz and the Denney-Hunt Chapel. Your faithfulness, kindness, and encouragement have shaped our lives more than you know.

To all who have prayed for and supported the Barn, Shepherd’s Hope, and the Retired Ministers Fund—thank you. Because of your generosity, the nonprofit is now supporting 198 pastors and ministry workers each week. Under Joel Tuchez’s leadership, these efforts have reached into 20 countries, bringing hope and encouragement to thousands of pastoral families. What a testimony to what God can do when His people join hearts and hands.

As we enter this season of gratitude, may the Lord bless you richly. We hold this promise close:

“The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” — Psalm 126:3

With heartfelt thanks and blessings,
Michael & Dee Ann
