Clearlakes Chorale

Clearlakes Chorale All levels of musical experience are welcome and auditions are not required! In 1982, a community chorus was formed in Wolfeboro by three area residents.

Their intent was to attract people interested in performing serious choral music. The following Fall, the group was named Clearlakes Chorale and membership began to grow. In the ensuing years, a tradition of widely varied music, both sacred and secular, was established, and membership rose steadily. The Chorale became incorporated in 1984, and tax–exempt status was established. Clearlakes Chorale

welcomes new members at the start of each of its two seasons (September-December and January-May). Reading music is recommended but not required. An understanding of choral music and ability to learn music through rehearsal and practice at home are desired.

Hey local music lovers, there's a great swing/jazz benefit concert coming up June 6 at the same church where Clearlakes Chorale rehearses and performs (First Congregation at 115 South Main St Wolfeboro). It's for a great cause: Three groups that help our neighbors who are stretched thin getting food on the table. Come for a toe-tapping night of music and community!

Wow, thanks for the feedback we heard at our performances Saturday and Sunday! "Raucous and fun" one concert-goer said of the Broadway numbers as she left. "Gorgeous!" another shared as he headed out, noting that Italian opera is his fave. Our Spring Season rehearsals begin this Thursday, January 8! If you're interested in singing operatic and Broadway selections "From the Stage and Screen," join us at the First Congregational Church of Wolfeboro on Thursday at 6 p.m. (Here's a quick sampling of what we'll be singing: "Huntsmen's Chorus" from Der Freischütz by Carl Maria von Weber; "Va, pensiero" from Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi; "Begin the Beguine" from Jubilee by Cole Porter; "Officer Krupke" from West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein; "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago by John Kander; and "Placido è il mar, andiamo" from Idomeneo by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart!) Those of you who attended our "Messiah" performances know that we invited four very talented graduate students (and recent grads) from Boston's New England Conservatory to favor us with solos. It was such a treat to welcome them into our homes and get to know them a bit! You may want to follow their careers as they take their gifts to the next level: Soprano Rena Maduro, Countertenor Ricky Owens, Bass Nicholas Ottersberg Enriquez, and Tenor Suowei Wu. (And we were tickled to learn that soon after their time with us in New Hampshire, Rena, Ricky, and Suowei earned Boston Region Metropolitan Opera awards! We're not surprised at all.)
