If you want to stop breast-cancer death you have to fund the research that transitions metastatic breast cancer from terminal illness to a chronic disease. Historically only 2% of all money raised for breast cancer research supports metastatic breast cancer research. People do not die from early stage breast cancer they die from metastatic breast cancer. It's been underfunded for far too long!

100% of the money raised by METAVivor goes to support metastatic breast cancer research. regardless of the initial stage of diagnosis (0, I, II, III), 1 in 3 breast cancer patients will develop metastatic breast cancer and today they are given a terminal diagnosis. Please help change this!

Honor the loved ones you lost, support those currently fighting metastatic disease and help the millions of people, like me, who live with the reality and fear of the disease one-day returning.

Fantastic article about the long term emotional impact of (breast) cancer:

"The journey to healing fully from breast cancer truly begins once all the treatments end. It is a long and tedious process, punctuated with unrelenting stress and anxiety that continues for years. A process which requires tremendous amount of coping, acceptance and negotiation. Coping with the diagnosis, the surgeries, the chemotherapies, the radiation, "the collateral damage" followed by a life-time of fears and anxiety."

"Healing from cancer cannot occur without complete emotional healing."

After a year and half of intensive treatments, I was handed broken pieces of my existence and told to go rebuild what I had lost. My mastectomy scar has certainly healed, but have I?

Survivor stories like a this bring me to my knees. Our ages were similar and the diagnosis was the same...triple positive. Friends, there is no cure for breast cancer! It can come back at any time and any where. METAvivor is the organization to support if you want to make a difference in the lives of women who are terminal because the breast cancer has metastasized. Other nationally known BC organizations have raised awareness for the disease and done a good job promoting early detection, which has been a blessing and shed light onto this disease. But, even early detection doesn't mean it won't come back. The 90% survival rate that is attributed to early detection is at 5 years after initial diagnosis. I am sorry, but 5 years isn't a cure and for many it's not enough time to watch your babies grow up, get married or for some see their first grandchild born. It's time to move past awareness! If you your family have been touched by breast cancer and you choose to support BC organizations, please consider METAvivor!
