We are grateful for all of the participants in our 2nd Dirt Road Scavenger Hunt. They traversed a 30 mile course through our fire district locating many items used in fire service, and nobody disappeared!

Our lunch was deliciously prepared courtesy of War Eagle Car Wash. Thanks also go out to many prize sponsors. Huntsville Lumber and Hardware , John Bell with John's Backwoods Skulls and Mounts, Powell's Feed, Madison County Hardware, Java Rose Coffee, CCs Automotive L**e and Repair, Huntsville Pantry, Jones Tire, Shonda Snider-Garrison, Hometown Farm and Feed, Good Ol Boys Barbershop, AT Smith, and your volunteer fire fighters who showcased their baking skills.

Our goal of service to this community is not possible without your support. Thank you again to all who came out, and everyone who made this event possible. See you all at the next one!

Day 3 ran longer than expected. We set 2 of the 3 headers for the bays.

We have a couple needs in the near future. A skytrak forklift will be needed to set the trusses when they arrive mid August. We are also looking for a local company to install the 3 - 12x12 doors. Contact Brian Bennett at 325-4826 for details.

We were recently chosen by Black Hills Energy to be a recipient of their Funds for Firefighters Grant program!

The award will assist us in purchasing 2 Seek Thermal FirePro 300 imagers and particulate respirators for your responders.

In 1989, a dedicated group of volunteers stepped forward to create the Witter-Aurora Volunteer Fire Department with the goal to provide fire protection for a five mile radius around our station on Hwy 23.

I'd like to take just a moment to thank those that stepped up to begin 35 years of service to our community.

Jack Canion, Lloyd Haught, Price Brandenburg, Charles McConnell, Mac McGuire, Bill Hauser, Bonnie Hauser, John Toliver, Jay Hammill, Vic Deaton, Arlen Judy, Clarence Carson, Gerald Doll, Barry Cleaver, and Porter Bryant.

These individuals began a tradition of service that carries on today. We are grateful to every person that has stepped up over the years to volunteer their time and effort to serve our community. As our second station is built, we are in need of more people willing to serve. Training is ongoing. Reach out if you're willing to become a part of this tradition.

The inaugural archery tournament is complete. We appreciate everyone who braved the weather. Thank you for supporting our department.
I think the rain scared a lot of you off, so we are going to open the course next Sunday afternoon from 1:00-4:00. We will ask for a $10 donation to benefit the construction of our second station. No tournament this time. Open shoot. Get a group of friends together, and come out for a fun time to support a good cause.
