Wise Fire & Rescue is proud to showcase two new ambulances recently added to our fleet, made possible through funding from the VAOEMS Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) and the Town of Wise.

These new units are an important investment in the safety of our community and provide our EMS personnel with modern, reliable equipment to continue delivering high-quality emergency medical care when it matters most.

We are grateful for the support and funding that made these additions possible and for the continued commitment to strengthening emergency services in Wise.

We’re proud to have these units serving our community!

Today, the members of Wise Fire & Rescue had the distinct honor of escorting the National EMS Memorial Moving Honors procession from the Kentucky state line to the Lee County line as it continues its journey to the 2026 National EMS Weekend of Honor in Arlington, Virginia. The procession is scheduled to arrive on July 17, where it will help kick off the Weekend of Honor and pay tribute to EMS professionals who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

It was a privilege to stand alongside fellow first responders in honoring the commitment, service, and sacrifice of our nation’s EMS providers. We are grateful to have played a small part in ensuring these heroes are never forgotten.

05/05/2026

Wise Fire & Rescue is proud to announce the upcoming delivery of our new Advanced Life Support ambulances, made possible through funding from VAOEMS and the Town of Wise.

Due to production delays related to COVID-19, these units were originally ordered nearly a year apart but will now be delivered together β€” allowing us to place both into service at the same time.

These ambulances will enhance our ability to provide high-quality emergency medical care and improve safety for both our patients and providers. Each unit will be equipped with updated stretchers, powered lift systems, and additional upgrades prior to being placed into service.

Final preparations are underway, with delivery expected by the end of the month.

We are grateful for the continued support from VAOEMS and the Town of Wise in helping us serve our community at the highest level.

04/30/2026

We’re excited to announce that Wise Rescue Squad has received a new power-load stretcher system from Fernoβ€”a major step forward in patient care and provider safety.

This equipment was made possible through funding from the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services (VAOEMS) grant program, along with the continued support of the Town of Wise.

The new system helps reduce lifting injuries, improves efficiency on calls, and ensures safer, smoother transport for our patients.

We’re grateful for the investment in our crews and our community. This is what progress in EMS looks like. πŸ’ͺπŸš‘
