Happy Freedom Day! Today we honor Juneteenth, commemorating June 19, 1865, when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free – more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

We take this time to reflect on our history, celebrate resilience, and continue the work of advancing equality, freedom and justice for all.

Incourage granted $1,600 to support this year’s Rapids Riverside Freedom Fest, held in downtown Wisconsin Rapids on the 4th of July, where music, games, food vendors and fireworks can be enjoyed. This year, we celebrate the United States of America's 250th anniversary, our Semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.

$1,000 was granted to the City of Wisconsin Rapids as a "Stars & Stripes Supporter" of Freedom Fest.
$600 was granted to Friends of Rapids Music to support the bouncy house and the family and kids zone.

Thank You Scholarship Donors! Your generosity has provided 197 scholarships this year, totaling $263,950. More than 4,800 scholarships, totaling over $3.91 million, have been awarded since 1994!

Today's zoo event has been rescheduled for Friday, June 26th: same times (11am & 1pm) and same place (Helen's Zoo House at the Wisconsin Rapids Municipal Zoo).

We wanted to ensure safety not only for our attendees, but also for our guest presenter and all of their animals. Because the weather was unpredictable and likely to become severe, the decision was made to reschedule.

This delay means Zoozort may have a new baby animal to bring to our event!

REMINDER: If you haven’t already, be sure to renew your scholarship award by Friday, June 15th. 📩 Check your email for important information.

Join us in one week for a free, family-friendly event at the Wisconsin Rapids Zoo!

Noelle Tarrant, with Zoozort, will be back with a variety of animals for you meet. She has been a licensed animal educator for over twenty years and enjoys teaching through interactive questions, demonstrations and live animals.

Adults and children alike are encouraged to attend. We hope to see you there at 11:00 am or 1:00 pm on June 10th in Helen's Zoo House.

Please accept or decline your scholarship award by Friday, June 5. Awards not accepted by this date will cause a delay in processing or may ultimately be rescinded.

Before June 5, be sure to update your email address in the ISTS scholarship portal to a personal email account if you have not already done so. Please do not use a school email address, as it may be deleted after graduation.

All award requirements and deadlines must be completed before scholarship payments can be processed.
