Last week, the Stewards of the Dells had a wonderful time welcoming local fourth graders to the Bowman House Wisconsin Dells Museum!

MaryAnn, Julie, and Amanda represented the Stewards, with generous help both days from a lovely volunteer from the historical society. Together, we shared “Wally the Water Drop” as a story and interactive exercise to teach students about water use around the house, why water matters in our daily lives, and the importance of conserving and preserving water in our community. Students also sampled fresh water from an artesian well in Rock Springs.

We presented to about 116 fourth graders, and they were all incredibly well-behaved, attentive, and curious. Beautiful weather made the field trip even better. Thank you to the teachers, students, and everyone at the Historical Society who helped make these two days such a success!

Is the Spirit of Earth Day we always try to encourage and remind people to do some local Spring cleanup. Project Clean is an annual initiative through multiple local organizations—-picnic will be held on Saturday May 2nd at 11:30am at Ralph Hines Park. Come for the T-shirt, stay for the food!!

Last Saturday, the Stewards of the Dells had a wonderful kayak expedition at the "Big Dells" with Vertical Illusions! Everyone had a great time, the weather was beautiful, and the water conditions were just about perfect. While we would not recommend going in the spring when water levels are high, this particular day had the ideal current for a leisurely float. 🚣

Thank you to everyone who came—we truly enjoyed sharing the experience with you. We look forward to planning more outings in the future and hope even more people can join us next time!

MEETING UPDATE: Our tentative 'every other month' outdoor expedition that was tentatively planned for Thursday, March 19th, is canceled. INSTEAD, please join us this Saturday, the 21st, for our first Dells Kayaking Expedition of 2026! Feel free to invite any teenager you know to join in this event. 🛶 😁

RSVP to Vertical Illusions (608-253-2500) before Saturday, so they can plan for equipment and can share any specific planning details.

Meet at 10am at the Big Dells: 1730 55th Street, Lyndon Station

We are looking for local High School kids that want to explore the Dells in a Kayak outing with us. It will take place north of town in “the Big Dells” where the water is shallow with sandy beaches. Adult Steward Members with their own kayak and life jacket are welcome to join us!
