Burnt Chimney Volunteer Fire Department Organized in 1972, we proudly serve the citizen of Franklin County Virginia. We operate out of one station located at 7300 Booker T. Washington Hwy Wirtz Va.

Our primary response area is 84 square miles and we are second due to 6 mutual aid departments.

Things you might not know where your tax dollars are spent. Hose and ladder testing each year. This ensures we are complaint with safety standards. Hoses or equipment that fail are taken out of service and replaced. All fire depts are tested each costing between $1700 and $2700 depending on amount of hose the department may have. Two volunteers took vacation days from work to have the task completed. The testing takes this company 4 hours to complete compared to a department taken weeks. All hose and ladder testing is documented and given to each department and is also stored on company website for access.
