"No KINGS PROTEST" Events in Georgia and Across America. Millions of disenfranchised Americans, across generations, backgrounds, and cultures, are taking to the streets this weekend in hundreds of cities, including Atlanta, Georgia, to make their voices heard. Their message is unmistakable: recent actions taken by the current administration in Washington, D.C. do not reflect the urgent issues or lived realities facing our nation.
Domestic and international crises continue to escalate. The war in Iran has claimed the lives of innocent children and families, struck down by bombs in their schools and neighborhoods. Gas prices remain painfully high. Reports of ICEโrelated abuses and police brutality persist. Our economy is sliding toward an inflationary recession. Immigration policies are being enforced in ways that terrorize, in many cases, innocent people who are denied due process.
The Improved Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the World, speaking on behalf of concerned citizens across this nation, cannot and will not remain silent in the face of alleged violations of civil rights, equal rights, and human rights. These conditions make it increasingly difficult for Americans to live in peace and enjoy the rights and privileges guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States.
Therefore, our Elks Grand Lodge stands united with the voiceless and the powerless in communities throughout our Association and across this great nation. We affirm to you that your voices matter, your concerns are justified, and we will stand steadfastly beside you. America must not, and shall not, be held hostage by "wanna-be" kings, dictators, or wouldโbe monarchs in our beloved republic.
In the words of the late great Honorable Congressman John Lewis, a towering civil rights icon:
โWhen you see something unjust, unfair, wrong, not right, say something about it. Do something about it.โ
As Elks, we embrace this moral and ethical obligation. We will fight with all our might to ensure that justice and civil liberties are preserved for every American.
We applaud the individuals, communities, and organizations who are courageously engaging in peaceful protest this weekend at the โNo Kingsโ rallies in Georgia, across the United States, and in cities around the world. Their actions remind us that democracy is strongest when the people stand together in defense of freedom, dignity, and truth.
