Due to the impending snow in the forecast a full town-wide parking ban is in effect as of Friday, February 6, 2026 at 11PM.

Any vehicles that are parked on the roadway in a non-designated winter storm parking location or that is obstructing plow operations in any way and at any time throughout the storm will be ticketed and towed immediately.

Lastly, when clearing sidewalks and driveways, please stockpile all snow on your property and refrain from shoveling or snowplowing the snow into the roadways.

Winthrop Parking Ban Update

Good afternoon, Winthrop,

As the DPW continues to remove snow from the smaller side streets, we want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. The parking ban is still in effect, but we will be allowing parking on the following streets that have been cleared:

Locust Street (Between Beach Rd and Winthrop Shore Drive)
Myrtle Avenue
Beach Road
Hawthorne Avenue
Neptune Avenue
Winthrop Street (Between Main and Banks)
Banks Street (between Winthrop and Wilshire)
Hutchinson Street
Sagamore Avenue

For all other streets, if you can park directly against the curb and leave a clear travel lane for vehicles to pass (at least ten (10’) wide), then please feel free to park on the street. If you cannot park directly against the curb, please continue to follow the parking ban and park in the authorized parking lots and streets.

We will continue to update the list of streets where snow has been removed daily and will fully lift the parking ban once all work is complete.

To ensure compliance with transportation laws, citizens, parents and guardians are reminded to familiarize themselves with governing regulations prior to purchasing transportation modes. Winthrop Police will continue to enforce these laws, which may include up to arrest and towing. With school resuming soon, we urge everyone to exercise caution and drive safely.
