We're looking forward to Tuesday's author talk by Russ Podmayer at the Winthrop Public Library . Based on his historical research into his wife Kathy's Reformed Dutch minister Domine Johannes Polhemius, we get the story of a man who lost a wife and child, shepherded colonists in the New World for the Dutch West Indies Company, provided aid to unjustly persecuted Jews, survived capture by privateers on the high seas, and eventually brought a new family to settle on Long Island. Russ will be in conversation with Greg Wright, publisher, poet and organizer of so many literary events in the Methow. Book sales by Trail's End Bookstore and a reception will follow the talk. Doors to the Community Room open at 6.

Listening to musicians come together and rehearse is a great way to enhance listening to the Methow Valley Chamber Music Festival repetoire. The June 19th open rehearsal is in Winthrop Public Library community room. It's been a full house the past two years!

Mark your calendars for our Free Open Rehearsals and Buy Tickets to our Centerstage Concerts. https://methowmusicfestival.ludus.com/index.php

We love when the community uses the Meeting Room for open gatherings. For example, there's a potluck/zoom viewing this Wednesday May 27th at 6:30 to watch Robert Macfarlane's online presentation, streamed from UW Seattle.

Macfarlane's work speaks to the rights of nature, in this case focused on rivers of the world. The public is invited to come share a bite and conversation with neighbors here in the Methow Watershed.

We are looking forward to tomorrow's talk by "Lone Druid" author and environmental activist Ric Bailey.
