Since 2001, the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed has been engaging our communities, educating our youth, and protecting the waters of the Cobbossee Watershed, a 217 square mile drainage basin in the Kennebec Valley region of Maine.

Every time you enter or leave a lake, even if an inspector is present, make sure to do a thorough inspection for any plants or debris, and completely drain all water away from the launch. Together we can protect the lakes we love!

If you're out on the water, keep an eye out for kayakers or people in the water, and be sure to wave if you see us!

Having fun out on the water🚤? When launching and pulling your boats, please make sure that you are following Clean, Drain, Dry practices to help protect our lakes and ponds from the spread aquatic invasive species🌿. Even when Courtesy Boat Inspectors are at the launch, we recommend doing a thorough inspection of your boat and gear for any plants, mud or debris.

We are "paw"sitively excited to share the latest addition to our office with you! Thanks to the support of a generous donor, we now have display tanks to showcase the five known Aquatic Invasive Species that are present in our watershed, with the goal of making it easier for everyone to learn to identify them. Want to check them out? Stop by our office anytime Monday - Friday between 8:30-4:30. Our field season has officially begun! We spent last week training our fantastic survey and control teams to get ready for the season, going over plant identification and survey techniques. Our teams will be out on the water looking for and removing Aquatic Invasive Species on waterbodies across the watershed.
