Who We Are

M.E.D. Community Thrift Store is a division of Foundation for Educational Development, Inc., a non-profit organization, supported entirely by tax-deductible gifts from churches, civic groups, corporate donations, grants, foundations, individuals and planned giving. M.E.D. Community Thrift Store derived from a very dear business partner and trusted friend, Mary Eleanor Diener. She was the inspiration for a community development program such as this. In honor of her memory the name was dedicated in her memory. I also had a desire to play an intricate role in the community. I felt compelled to begin my endeavor with a Thrift store in Four Oaks, NC. This was my way of giving back to the community. During such time I met my business partner Lt. Billie Williams. He retired on June 29, 2012, after 34 years of a successful career in Law Enforcement of which 23 years was with the Four Oaks Police Department. He continued to serve the community through the services M.E.D. offered. On March 17th, 2019 MED Community Thrift Store lost a Veteran to Parkinson/Dementia. M.E.D. will continue to keep his legacy and passion for helping others alive
