ππ FFA Builds Skills for Life ππ
FFA helps students develop confidence, leadership, and communication skills that carry into every career. Meghan Cain Newton, who won the State FFA Public Speaking contest in 2008 and advanced to the national level, shares how FFA helped shape her path:
βFFA has had a profound impact on the path Iβve taken in my career. Today, I work in healthcare as a nurse practitioner. While my profession is not directly in agriculture, many of the patients I care for are current or former agriculturalists. The ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and provide meaningful education is essential to the care I provide.
My years in FFA, especially through participating in Career Development Events, helped build these communication skills that are at the core of my work. Those experiences taught me how to think on my feet, listen closely, and share information in a way that others can understand and apply.
Now, when Iβm creating treatment plans, discussing medications, or working to understand a patientβs goals, I rely on the same communication skills that were strengthened during my time in FFA. The confidence and foundation I gained there continue to shape how I connect with and care for people every day.β
Meghanβs story is a great reminder that the lessons learned in FFA help prepare members to make a difference in any career field. π
