The rainiest food drive ever resulted in the biggest gathering of food ever! Over 4,500 pounds of food were weighed in with stragglers still to come in. If you are wondering where to take your yellow bag of food that somehow missed the collection there are four places that have drop off boxes for the next week or so. These are the Winterport Library, the Winterport Town Office, the Winterport Post Office, and the Winterport Marketplace.
We also abound in thankfulness! You townspeople in Winterport and Frankfort were amazingly generous even in these uncertain times. Thank you to our Post Office employees who put out the bags and announcements. Thank you to the Odd Fellows and American Legion service members who did the yellow bag pick ups for 4 hours in the soaking rain and enabled us to reach our 2 tons goal. Thank you to the Winterport Woman's Club and Neighbor's Cupboard volunteers who weighed and sorted and stored the food away. And thank you especially to Kristen, Phylis, Ellie, Rod, and Phil for making sure this all came together.
