Meet our 2026 Jacksonville Miracles Gala Chair, Gayle Simpson Garrison!

A dedicated educator, community leader, and longtime advocate, Gayle has spent more than two decades shaping young minds at St. Johns Country Day School while giving back to the Jacksonville community through her involvement with organizations including Young Life and the Rotary Club of Orange Park.

For Gayle, the Breakthrough T1D mission is also deeply personal. As the mother of a daughter who has lived with type 1 diabetes for more than 10 years, she knows firsthand the impact T1D has on individuals and their families—and the importance of advancing research toward cures.

Grab a cup and join the conversation! ☕ Come meet up with the Breakthrough T1D community for a casual coffee gathering on Thursday, August 27, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Starbucks, 2615 Lee Road, Winter Park.

Allie has been living with Type 1 diabetes for 25 years and riding with Breakthrough T1D for the past 10 🚴‍♀️💙

From her first Ride in 2016 on a hybrid bike in Burlington, Vermont, to events in Saratoga Springs, Amelia Island, La Crosse, and My Ride, her journey has been one of growth, resilience, and determination. This year, she is excited to ride in Cape Cod and serve as a coach in Amelia Island.

Over the years, Allie’s experience with T1D has evolved alongside incredible advancements in technology, allowing her to ride stronger and more confidently. What started as a personal challenge has grown into a deeper mission to help change how others living with T1D experience the world.

For Allie, the Ride community is what makes every mile meaningful. It is a place where lifelong friendships are built, new connections are made, and support is always there when you need it most.

She rides to inspire others to discover what they are capable of, proving that no matter the challenge, you can keep pushing forward 💙

Sally has been riding with Breakthrough T1D for 5 years! 🚴‍♀️💙

From Amelia Island to My Ride events, she has been part of this incredible community every step of the way.

She started riding as soon as she met the age requirement, but Breakthrough T1D has been part of her story for over 10 years since her diagnosis.

This season will look a little different as Sally heads off to college this fall, but she is already planning to find a ride in her new home and continue supporting the mission. She will be participating in My Ride this season and staying connected to the Ride community she loves. Always riding with purpose 💙
