We love our summer camp visitors đź’™ These young scientists from the Florida Oceanographic Society Summer Camp spent the day at TNC's Blowing Rocks Preserve in South Florida. In our plant nursery, campers helped collect red mangrove propagules and planted the seedlings. In the water, they used seine and dips nets to discover the diverse fish and invertebrate species found in the Indian River Lagoon, including French grunt, great barracuda, checkered puffer, dwarf seahorse, pipefish, urchins, and more.
TNC in Florida's preserves are campuses of the Center for Conservation Initiatives (TNC CCI), serving as on-the-ground hubs where we partner with educational programs, schools, universities, colleges, agencies and communities to provide a hands-on environment to learn about and address critical conservation questions.
