Public safety isn’t just a talking point for me, it’s always been one of my top priorities. Our police officers and firefighters are the backbone of this community, and ensuring each department is staffed with skilled, qualified personnel and have the resources necessary to serve residents effectively is essential to keeping Winter Haven safe.

Let’s talk about what public safety really means.

It’s not just about new fire stations. While those projects matter, they don’t automatically mean more trucks, staff or improved response times.

Public safety starts with PEOPLE. The men and women who serve our community deserve the staffing, support, and resources to do their jobs safely and effectively.

When departments aren’t properly staffed, response times suffer. And without proper pay, it becomes harder to attract and keep the qualified professionals we rely on the most. That’s a cycle we can, and must, break.

As Winter Haven grows, our investment in public safety has to grow with it. Strong leadership means making sure our police and fire departments are fully staffed, fairly compensated, and supported on every level.

Fix the Roads. Improve our Winter Haven.

As Winter Haven grows, we need to make sure our infrastructure keeps up. That means maintaining what we have, improving traffic flow and safety, and coordinating upgrades so neighborhoods aren’t left struggling through construction delays or disruptions.

We can do all of this responsibly, by prioritizing projects, planning ahead, and using common-sense solutions that strengthen our community without breaking the bank.

Please join us in congratulating our newest Lieutenants, Caleb Bracknell and Donald Baumgardner, on their well-deserved promotions, as well as welcoming the newest members of our fire service family — Wyland Alleva, Triston Maxwell, and Jesus Ramirez — who were officially pinned during today’s ceremony.

These moments mark significant milestones in each of their careers — from stepping into leadership roles to proudly wearing the badge for the first time. We’re incredibly proud of all of you and excited for what’s ahead.

To our newly pinned firefighters: welcome to the brotherhood and sisterhood — you’ve earned your place, and we’re honored to have you by our side.
