Planting the Seeds for a Fun New Year!

Mark your calendars! Our next meeting will be Wednesday, January 21st at 1:00 p.m. in the HFC Craft Room.
We’ll be gearing up for the HFC Health and Fitness Day on January 23rd in the Ballroom from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., so don’t miss it!

A big thank you to everyone who supported our December fundraising efforts—they were fairly successful! If you have any expertise or ideas you’d like to share to help with fundraising, we’d love your input.

Exciting plans are underway for this year, including more featured speakers and a field trip to Cody Cove Farm—stay tuned for announcements!

Lake Ashton Community Garden Update!

There’s so much growing and happening in our garden this month!

DON’T MISS!
Holiday Craft Night – Wednesday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m. in the HFC Craft Room.

Join us for garden-inspired soap making, candle crafting, and planting new winter crops. A fun, festive night for all!
Our yellow craft-stick markers are out—letting you know which crops are ready to harvest. Kale, arugula, and beets are looking fantastic, so bring a basket and enjoy the freshness! And don’t forget: our herb beds are always open for Stop ’N’ Snip—take what you need anytime.

We’re also excited to share our new partnership with The Eagle’s Nest, where Kevin Baker will be featuring dishes made with our very own garden harvests. Watch for the sweet potato–herb special on the January menu!

And of course . . . our handcrafted holiday fundraiser items are available all month: shell ornaments, poured candles, wildlife notecards, watercolor botanical cards, and garden-inspired soaps. Every purchase helps support and sustain the Community Garden.

What’s sprouting next at the Lake Ashton Garden?

Find out at our Nov. 19 meeting at 6:00 p.m. (HFC Craft Room) — we’ve got fresh planting plans, creative collaborations, recipes and maybe even a surprise or two.

We’ll talk about new plantings, a scheduled planting party, share tasty recipe handouts using our current harvest, and discuss the best ways to prep some fresh-picked veggies.

Join Us for a Morning of Health, Learning & Community!

Mark your calendars!
On Friday, November 7, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at the Clubhouse, AdventHealth presents an engaging talk with Dr. Shiva Seetahal, a board-certified bariatric surgeon who will share inspiring insights on nutrition and healthy eating.

While you’re there, stop by the Lake Ashton Community Garden (LACG) table! We’ll have handmade candles, decorative rosemary pots, and beautiful botanical and wildlife notecards available for purchase — perfect for gifts or a little something special for yourself.

Come learn how to nourish your body, support your community garden, and connect with neighbors who share your passion for wellness and growth.

Exciting News from the Lake Ashton Community Garden!

We’re thrilled to kick off our brand-new Speaker Series this Friday, October 17th at 6:00 p.m., with our first guest speaker — Josh Jameson, owner of Cody Cove in Babson Park! Josh has been an incredible resource for our gardeners, and he’ll be sharing his expertise on everything from bed irrigation and composting to smart companion planting. You won’t want to miss it!

While you’re at the West gate, be sure to check out our garden beds — the results of our Fall planting are already taking shape, thanks to the wonderful dedicated volunteers! This is the start of Florida’s true growing season, and we can’t wait to see our seasonal crops thrive in the weeks ahead.

Lake Ashton Community Garden: Growing, Learning, and Sharing!

Our garden is blooming with activity, and we’re excited to share a glimpse of it with you! From Roselle leaves ready for picking to colorful pots of marigolds brightening the beds, there’s always something new happening. Members will be planting seeds, planning our Fall crops, and enjoying tasty treats made from our own harvest. 🌞 Summer Growth Report – The Garden is Thriving!

It’s been a busy and beautiful summer in the Lake Ashton Community Garden, and we couldn’t be more excited to share what’s been growing—thanks to our amazing volunteers and a lot of love from the sun!

What We’ve Grown:
• 20+ garden beds—labeled, mapped, and looking fantastic
• New summer crops: luffa (loofah), mulberry, lime, and Mexican spinach
• Pollinator plants are attracting butterflies galore
• And of course—a dedicated volunteer team making it all happen!

Our garden is thriving with smarter, more balanced planting, and the results are showing in every bloom, bud, and bite.

Whether you're an experienced grower or just garden-curious, there’s always room for more hands—and hearts—in the garden. Come see what’s sprouting!

Garden Reminder – We Grow Together!

First, a big THANK YOU to everyone who has signed up to help water and tend the Lake Ashton Community Garden. Your time and care are truly what keep our garden thriving—and we’re so grateful for your helping hands!

That said, we’ve had a few instances where no one showed up on scheduled days. We totally understand that life happens! If you’re ever unable to make it, just let us know so we can ensure the plants still get the TLC they need.
