🦇🦇Announcement🦇🦇

For the past 3 years, The Bats Roost has been running trials on baby bat formulas every baby season, with the end goal of creating a working formula for neonatal baby bats as they hold the highest fatality rate in rehab care. 💔
After a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and heart break, last year we had a break-through in our trial formulas and were successful in consistently keeping both neonate tree and crevice dwelling bat species alive.❤️‍🩹
We still have a ways to go with adjustments and tweaking of ingredients, and with the closure of our rescue/rehab part of The Bats Roost at the beginning of this year, we continue our trials by working the trials alongside other bat rescue groups. 🦇
Neonate bats are extremely difficult to care for, so we ensure to utilize only the most dedicated, focused and reliable volunteers who keep in constant contact with us to ensure the trials are being performed correctly along with the almost militant protocols and procedures that have been proven successful.

Baby Una,in the video attached was found with her umbilical cord still attached on intake, meaning she was only a few hours old. We are happy to report that she is thriving in rehab care with her foster mom, Lisa. 🥹❤️
If it wasn’t for these trials, baby bats like Una would have little to no chance of survival in rehab care.

If you would like to follow Una’s journey through rehab care, please follow Central Florida Bat Rescue and consider making a donation to Una, or to the other neonatal baby bats that will be coming in this month that will need the same life saving treatment that Una does. ❤️🦇

🦇The newest addition at The Bats Roost! 🐈‍⬛

We found this kitten outside, very hungry and dirty. She is not used to people so it took a while but she is starting to come around. ❤️‍🩹
She is scheduled to be spayed later this month and already had her first round of vaccines.
Say hello to Marie, who will now call The Bats Roost her forever home. ❤️

For Bat Appreciation Month, we would like to share a special rehab case that recently became a very happy release day! 🦇

Meet Batty, a male southeastern myotis that came into rehab care months ago in terrible shape. Batty was not only dehydrated and thin, he had what we call Florida’s version of wing wasting disease along with an open fracture to his fifth finger. On top of all of this, he was missing fur and had spiders living in the fur he did have. 🕷️
Having an open fracture on any wing bone is almost always a guarantee that the bat will never fly again. 💔
We were not sure if he would survive, but he was a little fighter, so we got to work on him right away to give him his best chance.

After months of treatment, lots of ups and downs and tons of physical therapy, not only did Batty survive, but he was able to fly! 🥲
Batty displayed such perfect flight acrobatics that he was able to be released back to the wild where he belongs! ❤️‍🩹🦇

Batty will always hold a special place here at The Bats Roost, as he was one of our longest rehab patients and his ability to heal and survive against all odds was nothing short of inspiring! ❤️
We have attached pictures of Batty on intake, his fifth finger fracture after it had began to heal (we will spare you the gory photos) and the pictures of him when he was ready for release and his healed wing. ❤️‍🩹

We will be utilizing these donated bat houses to help provide homes for bats in areas where property owners and park management allow.
