Will you be my buddy? Bob and his Buddy Chris are featured on this MJFF Podcast about the new Buddy Network.

This is the kind of "work" we were built for - connecting with people living with or connected to PD to build a foxy family we can support and be supported by.

Learn about how you can join the Foundation’s new online community — the Parkinson’s Buddy Network — to build meaningful connections with other people and families navigating the disease.

We have had a wonderful journey with our friends, fundraising through our golf tournaments. That journey has changed somewhat as we have reenergized our outreach to assist our PD brothers and sister in managing their challenges. For those who have asked for a way to remain committed to our efforts, here is a vehicle to do so.

Congratulations Lake Ashton and all sponsors who supported us in our quest for the cure

The Harmon family planned to host their 11th and final golf fundraiser in April. Guest blogger Kate Harmon shares how the community rallied around her father, who lives with Parkinson's, and helped the family reach its $500,000 lifetime fundraising goal.

In this time of confusion and uncertainty in the world, the Lake Ashton community continues to be one thing we can all rely on. As you know by now, the 11th Annual Golf for the Cure for Parkinson’s Disease went off without anyone actually swinging a club. We asked our donors and players to stick with us, to help close out 11 years with a bang. And while we missed out celebrating the end of this journey with you all, you definitely ended things in a way we could never have imagined.

We hand-delivered golfer bags (from 6 feet away), sold extra raffle tickets, dropped off those winnings, and held our silent auction outside with masks to give this community every opportunity to experience parts of our tournament.

And to that end, your contributions helped make this year’s final tournament our highest grossing tournament in our 11 years. We raised over $52,500 bringing the total contribution of this community and the Harmon family to over $505,500 raised for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research

Your support of The Michael J. Fox Foundation has gone directly toward funding trials for medications that help patients (have you seen Bob’s swing lately?), and research that is leading us closer to a cure every day. We’ve been telling you over the years just how special this community is, but it’s never been clearer. You’ve put this community among the 13 other events that have raised half a million dollars for the cure, and one of seven events that have made it 11 years.

The Harmons might be a little biased, but we think you’d be hard-pressed to find a community like this one. A community that rallied behind Bob and Cecily, even in the height of a global epidemic.

While we won’t be golfing with all 200+ of you on the first Saturday of April anymore, know that our journey is nowhere near done. We’re excited to share with you where we see ourselves going next this fall in a celebration of your stellar contributions.

Thank you to our sponsors, our golfers, our volunteers, our family, and friends. The Harmon family would not be a contender in this fight without you in our corner.

What we do with a small golf tournament in a community with a huge heart matters. We may not have a cure for Parkinson's yet, but this year Lake Ashton will hit the $500,000 mark of funds that went directly to research. Research for drugs like this that can change the life of a PD patient, like Bob who's featured in the Inbrija patient video.

Thank you for all you do. We've got a ways to go, but we'll get there together.

For the past 11 years, the Lake Ashton community has shown us what true support looks like by supporting Golf For the Cure for Parkinson’s Disease. It is the Harmon family’s turn to return the favor. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of the 11th and final Golf for the Cure. As members of this community, it is our duty to make the necessary steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Our biggest remiss is that we won’t be celebrating hitting the $500,000 mark with you all on April 4 but stay tuned for a celebration coming this fall. We have every faith that we will still hit our goal and we’re planning a party to show you how much we appreciate all you’ve done for us the past decade. Not just us, but the 10 million people living worldwide with Parkinson’s disease.

We are asking that if you have signed up for the tournament, you consider paying your $40 golfer fee as a donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. For that, you will still receive the golfer’s bag, with balls, tees, a stainless-steel Golf For the Cure logoed tumbler, and five raffle tickets. Our raffle will be done offline, and prizes delivered to the winners. A list of the winning raffle prizes will be posted at the Pro Shop. The silent auction will be held at the Pro Shop for the week ahead of the tournament date.

While we knew this year would be the last one for Golf for the Cure, we did not anticipate it ending this way. We continue to stand beside our Lake Ashton neighbors during this difficult time. We look forward to celebrating with you in the fall and sharing what our family is going to be doing next in this ongoing fight. We will not stop until there’s a cure.
